Private Plate

Featured Replies

I am trying to locate the previous owner of an Audi A4 2022 Sport, Navarra Blue that was in a crash. I've purchased and repaired the car and applied/received the V5C for it and realised that I have inherited the private plate G20YGE or G20 YGE. I would like to return the plate in exchange for the second key, key code and any other documentation that belonged to the car. Please send me a DM here if you know or are the previous owner of the car.

Welcome Daran,

Pretty much of a long shot on here, but worth a try. I would suggest that the plate is of a low commercial value, and obviously the previous owner wasn’t fussy on retaining it.

Did you buy it via Copart?

One possibly avenue might be to contact the salvage disposal company and ask if they would pass on your request to the insurers, who could then pass your contact details to the previous owner.

Regards,

Gareth.

Hi Gareth, it's definitely a long shot - worth a try and it could be that the previous owner wasn't aware of the forms needed to retain his registration. Who knows. I bought it from a salvage company in Derby so I'll use your suggestion with them - with thanks!

I managed to connect with the previous owner. The garage where it had its last MOT in Liverpool was kind enough to call the owner to pass on my phone number. The owner contacted me and now I am arranging the return of his private plates. All good!
