wire under passenger seat perished and airbag warning light has come on

So tonight the airbag warning light came on and checked around and saw this wire has perished I've taped it up now but does anyone know what the wire is for and if it would make the warning light come on?

This is quite a common fault. I believe the wire is for the seat airbag and over time it breaks which causes the airbag warning light to come on. 

Obviously this will need fixing as it is an mot failure.

Truthfully, no. But it shouldn't be that much as it's just the wire that needs sorting, everything else with the airbag system should be fine :)
