Hi nice picture and you obviously have the right kit for the measuring, I used to have a friend that was an instructor for the Nigel Mansell racing school at Sneterton so I had the privilege of spending a lot of weekends there and learnt a lot, what you have is classic wear caused by basically what is a track car set up on a road car, this system is essential on high performance road cars such as Ferrari etc that are running over 400bhp, you could have the discs skimmed but I think you would achieve bottom limit before they cleaned up, my theory for what its worth is if I used genuine discs and pads on my A6 they never lasted that long but the reverse is if I bought ATE high carbon discs and used Brembo pads I got at least a third more wear out of the discs and pads and on a cab thats not bad going, I think on later vehicle Audi have probably done the cost cutting thing with the carbon content for the discs, lets face it they would do this just save money. Hi from about 2016 on the the tw@ts at Audi worked out how much they were losing out on the build spec of cars new, nearly all models pre 16 had all the options already fitted is all you had to do was activate them and charge the customer at least £400 for the privilege, nice money for a two min programme at the end of the production line, then OBDEleven/Carly turn up and that meant you could activate the stuff your self, they did not like that at all so chances are your vehicle was never fitted with that option but OBD don't mind relieving of the credits whatever happens.   3. Hi if the flywheel has any movement in it it vibrates which in turn causes mixed signals to the crank position sensor which is mounted behind it that would cause random misfires. Steve.

Hi welcome to the wonderful world of OBDEleven and one click Apps, on the later cars THEY DONT WORK most of the time because the option to have that was never as factory, they are quite happy to take the credits for that function and tell you its done when the lighting control module is not having it, I have OBDEleven and the difference between that and VCDS is that you don't get charged for trying and at least it will tell you what you are trying to do is not supported. Hi they did bugger about with the positioning of the sensors if you look through the archive I did post a diagram of where each sensor for the EGT system is, easiest way to check which one is wonky is to get the car up to running temp check the system on the diagnostics and systematically unplug each sensor one at a time and when the one that is reading low disappears just chase that plugs wiring back to that sensor, the plugs are all at the top of the engine on the bulkhead, the ULTRA system of EGT sensors is a pig therefore the one you might consider to be bank1 may be further downstream on my car the bank1 was on the group of three just after the cat if thats any help Euro five was a lot easier as they normally only had two or three sensors, its just a case of elimination all four sensors are the same part number so if you need to see how it works go to LLLcar parts and throw in your VIN and it comes up with a diagram showing where the sensors are but unfortunately it won't tell you which one is which, never any smoke with a failed EGT on Euro6 cars, it just won't regen. Hi 230 ish is your answer, its failing as if you have anything under 550 its on its way out and the ECU will go into default strategy turn the light on and put you in limp, also worth checking is the DPF pressure sensor which at idle should run about to or three psi and about seven psi when revved up to 2000 rpm, also check the ash loading [not soot] as if this is over 40% that is classed as tragically blocked.   7. Hi check some goon has not greased the back of the pads as you are not supposed to if it persists buy some anti squeal backing off of eBay and stick into the back of the pads that will shut it up. Steve.

Hi because they are fixed callipers on the front probably six pot and there is no movement in the calliper to let any trapped debris free floating units are far more forgiving, AUDI obviously thought it was a good idea to put track car callipers on a normal car, yes the braking is more progressive but you can loose that advantage after the first 30k as most people never change their fluid which especially on fixed callipers has a dramatic effect on pad/disc wear. Steve.

Hi I can recommend Volvo C60 or an Audi Q3 I have worked on a couple of these recently and they if looked after are pretty much bullet proof, the Q3 in particular as the spares are cheap and Audi used the VW engines which have a very good track record, you could also look at Passat, Tiguan, both have good ground clearance which the standard Avants don't have, again cheaper parts, any of the above with nice miles will be somewhat cheaper in both purchase price and parts, my personal opinion having owned the ULTRA equipped car is they are a very nicer to drive but they are also a money pit, the owners of the older Audis pre ULTRA definitely have had the better deal. Hi you need to have all service information available and if sketchy you need to ask for an AA independent inspection, a lot is milage/age dependent so I can only assume for the price you are thinking of paying the milage is very low, BEWARE this model isoprene to numerous faults, don't take my word for it go through the A4 part of the forum, if you are financing the vehicle the repayments period may well outlast the car, there are plenty more models that would bear consideration at that price, jut avoid anything with an ULTRA badge, most deposits are refundable by law but I doubt there is a queue to buy this car, just research the model on here. Hi I would be more inclined to aim at the wiring loom going to the alternator as they generally get a bit crusty at that age and chances are there is a break in that part of the loom which is possibly short or to ground, it won't show up on the diagnostics as back then it was not monitored and what makes me think that is the alternator was removed thus disturbing the wiring.   17. Hi the sensor is on the bottom of the oil pan or on the side, but in saying that it looks like the standard warning for the oil service, what level is your sensor showing on the MMI and can you quantify a few months and if the vehicle is diesel or petrol ? Steve.

Hi if you buy the o.e. seal and put it on dry it will leak its got bugger all to do with the quality of the plastic as the bottom of the plastic housing forms part of the sump pan seal so its more to do with the sealant, I have always found the genuine Ford sealant works best, don't know what's in it but it works really well on any sump pan even the tin ones the only thing I would say is buy a genuine belt, the oe seals are Febi, Corteco or INA but Meyle are the same quality, they also do a chain conversion kit so you never have to change the belt again but at around £800 thats a bit steep. Steve.

Hi its probably the ballast they are banging on about, genuine about sixty quid on eBay bought one for my daughters car last summer, easy change about 30 min but in my opinion its probably a bulb, you will have to change both bulbs as they wear in pairs again about sixty quid a pair and by the way find a different garage. Steve.

Hi just twigged it you have fixed callipers, probably twin pot have not seen these on a production car for a long while, also can't figure out why they have gone over to this system as the callipers weigh more and are expensive to produce compared with floating callipers which are lighter and a lot less expensive to produce and refurbish, fixed units are more common on high performance cars Ferrari and track cars, therefore the pad backing should eliminate the chatter.
