Very good point. I mean the government cancelled the electricification of the railway so theyre not bothered imo as they can't make money from the public from it. I think fossil fuel vehicles will be around for longer then they claim. No way can the infrastructure be put in place in 8-9 years. I mean look how long any planning application takes (1-3 years) it's definitely not possible.

Audi A6 C7 Avant Sline - Standard Audio Upgrade Options
Steve Q replied to Louis0's topic in Audi A6 (C7) Forum
The Bose system is a good upgrade abd won't harm retail value as it's not a modification in the normal sense. I think some components will need programing to the car (any modules for example) otherwise it should be fairly straightforward. My advice would be to buy a complete kit from a c7 being broken and ideally for you to see the system in place so you know where everything goes. -
You're welcome and most definitely. If you're getting a warranty then che k it with a fine tooth comb. However I find most dealer warranties (excluding main dealer) aren't worth the paper they're written on. At least you'll get 30 days to return the car for a full refund if there's an issue. Plus if you're buying it on finance then you can sometimes reject the car as not fit for purpose. However tyres are a tricky area as technically they're a wear and tear item/consumable item.

Totally agree, it's trying to find trusted garages a d once you find one you stick with it. Sounds like the quality of their work has gone down hill in this case.

Audi’s finalised plans for the all-new A4 include an electric-only four-wheel-drive performance RS model and a hybrid RS4 to top a line-up underpinned by two different platforms, according to well-placed Ingolstadt insiders. One platform will be used for combustion-engined hybrid variants and the other for pure-electric models. The sixth-generation Audi A4 is due to go on sale in the UK in 2023. Volume-selling versions of Audi’s long-running BMW 3 Series rival will continue to be sold in saloon and estate (Avant) bodystyles based on a modified version of the existing MLB platform, which underpins a wide variety of other Volkswagen Group models. The Audi A4 Avant has now broken cover for the first time on public roads, giving clues to a design overhaul that will bring it into line with Audi's newer models, including the E-tron line of EVs. A low, wide front grille, slimline headlights and a more rakish roofline look to be the key differentiators from the current car – and while this mule's distinctive circular rear lights may not make it to production, we would expect a redesign at the back, too. The new A4 will offer a range of upgraded petrol and diesel engines equipped with either mild- or plug-in hybrid assistance and offered in both front- and four-wheel-drive (quattro) layouts. Markus Hoffmann, head of R&D at Audi, said: “We already have electrification modules today, from mild hybrids to plug-in hybrids – and we will be focusing even more intensively on electrification in the cars that follow.” Electrification will extend throughout the range, all the way up to the successor to the RS4, which will retain today’s twin-turbocharged 2.9-litre V6 petrol engine but is in line to receive electric assistance that will lift its output beyond the 444bhp and 443lb ft of the existing model. Also under development at the German car maker is the new pure-electric A4 E-tron. Set to challenge the Tesla Model 3 and newly unveiled BMW i4, it is based around the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture that has been developed in a joint engineering programme between Audi and Volkswagen Group sibling company Porsche. The PPE platform used by the A4 E-tron will be shared with the upcoming Audi Q6 E-tron, as well as an electric version of the secondgeneration Macan currently under development at Porsche. The architecture will also underpin the new Audi A6 E-tron, recently revealed in concept form and which, like the A4 E-tron, will be sold alongside its combustion-engined namesake until petrol and diesel are discontinued. The new electric A4 is set to adopt broadly similar exterior styling to its combustion-engined siblings but will be differentiated visually by a blanked-off grille and other unique design elements to further improve its aerodynamic efficiency. Although not yet confirmed, it is likely to feature a five-door layout with a liftback-style tailgate similar to today’s A5 Sportback, following the lead of the A6 E-tron. The A4 E-tron will be sold with a choice of single-motor rear-drive and dual-motor four-wheel-drive (quattro) layouts when it arrives in 2024. The line-up will be crowned by an electric RS performance model from the Audi Sport division, packing up to 469bhp and 590lb ft. Audi is committed to introducing up to 20 new pure-electric models by 2025. But with the existing A4 accounting for roughly a fifth of annual global Audi sales in recent years, a move to electric power exclusively for its successor was considered too premature by Ingolstadt decision makers, who have said the company will produce petrol and diesel A4s through to 2030. Dimensionally, the new A4 is said to be little changed over today’s model, which stretches to 4772mm in length, 1847mm in width and 1435mm in height. By comparison, the A6 E-tron concept is 4939mm long, 1960mm wide and 1457mm tall. Among the changes made to the MLB platform used by petrol and diesel versions of the new A4 is a modified rear structure to package a 14.4kWh (usable) lithium ion battery. Set to feature on upcoming plug-in hybrid A4 models, it is the same battery used by plug-in versions of today’s Q5, A6 and A7. It is also found in the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid and Panamera E-Hybrid. Details remain scarce, but the same battery currently fitted to today’s larger models gives a WLTP electric driving range of up to 45 miles, which Audi could seek to boost nearer to the 62-mile claimed EV range of the new MercedesBenz C-Class. Further developments for the MLB platform include a new electric architecture with 48V capability. This enables the adoption of additional functions such as the Dynamic All-Wheel Steering system used by the A6, A7, A8, Q7 and Q8, as well as new level two autonomous driving functions currently being developed by Audi’s Car.Software division. It also provides the base for a range of new digital and connectivity features. Among them is near-field communication functionality being developed by Audi and Huawei. This enables contactless payment for refuelling or charging, tolls, parking, drive-through dining and other services from within the car via the MyAudi app. Autocar understands the new A4 will run an updated version of the current model’s aluminium-intensive multi-link front and rear suspension, with adaptive damping on selected models. Earlier speculation suggested the next A4 would receive rear air springs, although they may be reserved exclusively for the A4 E-tron. The key combustion engine for the 2023 A4 is a fifth-generation version of the Audi-developed turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder EA888 petrol unit. First introduced in 2008, it is being re-engineered to meet stiff new Euro 7 emission regulations with a number of innovations, including newly developed fuel injection and particulate filter systems. The reworked combustion engines for the A4 are set to be mated exclusively to either a seven-speed dual-clutch or eight-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox to guarantee maximum efficiency and bring emissions down as far as possible. The six-speed manual gearbox available on today’s model will be made redundant as part of plans to reduce parts complexity. The PPE platform underpinning the new A4 E-tron will be predominantly the same structure used by the A6 E-tron, but with a shorter wheelbase and narrower tracks. A development of the J1 platform used by the Audi E-tron GT and Porsche Taycan, it can accommodate battery packs of various capacities. The largest version is set to provide the new Audi model with a range of up to 435 miles, together with an 800V system that offers charging at speeds of up to 270kW. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/new-2023-audi-a4-avant-spotted-testing-begins

Best place is ebay in my opinion. I buy most things on ebay.

Definitely che k the side walls but unfortunately that's all you can do. I can't see Arnold Clark changing the tyres.

How odd I know a fellow member Definitely had an issue of an overfilled tank. In my wife's case jag top it up for free.

The garage should be replacing the key. Its bang out of order they lost it

Very good points. I was thinking of this route for sustainability. But it looks like its no good on my a6 anyway. Older simpler diesel engines it'll work on. I appreciate that doesn't help cabbies as the cars it'll work on are well over 30 years old.

No probs at all

Hey Tony, the systems are very sensitive and easily over filled. My wife has a jag xe and we always get the dealership to top it up as the xe is known to have adblue system issues. This has saved us more than once as the dealership can't blame us if it goes wrong with being over filled or wrong adblue topped up if you see whst I mean. On my wife's jag the level sensor has been reset twice FOC. I know a fellow member who had a caddy van topped up and overfilled the tank and vw tried to charge him a fortune. But it transpired he overfilled it because the sensor said it needed topping up.

I believe they have to be coded in. But it's definitely worth checking to see what module you should have in conjunction with the headlights.

Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 My advice would be to get it booked in at Audi as it's under warranty. They'll do a diagnostic check on it to find out what's wrong. -
If you changed the relays and that's not fixed it then either the housing for the relsys or wiring further along will.need changing in my opinion.

Exactly the who scheme of disposal and repair hasn't been thought through. I did seriously look at converting the a6 to run of chip fat/cooking oil (or similar) however I think the a6 fuel pump won't cope. To do this id need an old Merc diesel preferably a w124 250d. But that's too old to use daily due to higher running costs of parts wearing out due to age.
-
You can try and dry it out but more often than not the components that have got wet will need replacing. Im in a similar situation with my c5 as I need a new ccm after it got wet. It's dried out best it could but I've got intermittent central locking issues etc.

Very strange times. As I say I have the brochure for my a6 which states how green it is. Ironically my a6 will have out lived a lot of first generation electric cars so it is more environmentally friendly!

Definitely speak to the finance company. No way should a diff go on a 27k 3 year old car. It sounds like the previous owner has thrashed it. However there should be done good will on Audis part as the diff shouldn't have gone wrong at this stage. Definitely speak to an independent garage for a quote as they should be cheaper mainly with the labour rate. Over due to the quattro system by 3 months you should be ok as long as you get it serviced now as I wouldn't leave it any later as you've done 2k miles in that time.
-
Just to add. The current life expectancy of a car is an average of 13 years. I can see this going down to 7 years as most electric cars will be worthless at the 8 year old mark as most have warranties on batteries for 8 years. After that you're on your own and they're around 10k to buy new batteries. Not to mention the extra pollution caused from mining the precious metals for the batteries abd the slave labour used to mine the precious metals too. It's a con. An electric car has polluted more in it's construction than a conventional car. So how's that greener? I do believe people that buy electric cars have either fallen for the con or care more about their wallet than the environment. The government agenda is to change our preference on what drives our vehicles to tax us more. This happens ever 20 or so years. For example petrol cars were most common right through to the late 80s-early 90s. Then the government decided that diesel was greener as it was more economical. So persuaded people into diesel cars. Then mid teenies they decided that the nitrates in diesel were more dangerous so have been pushing people back to petrol. But petrol is bad for the environment because of xyz. So now they want us all to have electric cars. But in 10-15 years the government will decide that due to a shortage of the previous metals and the the fact the mining. Is damaging to the environment they will tell everyone electric cars are bad abd will persuade everyone into synthetic fuel vehicles. I'm sure hydrogen will come into the equation too at some point. It's not about saving the planet. It's about taxing us more and more.

Sounds like a great upgrade 🙂
-
Is it worth checking the relays? Also you could try a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up regarding the system. But you're most likely right it being the blower motor. But it could also be the control unit (buttons).

Audi has a good following in South Africa. According to Autotrader’s 2021 Mid-Year Car Industry Report, it is the 5th most searched brand in South Africa. I have also been a fan of Audi cars for a while. My eldest brother had an old 500 over a decade ago. It was in very good condition for its age and it drove like a dream. It was a big car, very spacious and very comfortable. Later on, one of my best friends had an Audi A3, one had an Audi Q5, and one still drives an A5 to this day. My friend with the A5 is due for an upgrade and I have been pushing him to switch to electric. Earlier this year, Audi South Africa announced that it would be bringing 6 electric vehicle models to South Africa in Q1 2022. Audi has now announced the South African pricing for the e-tron range and is now taking orders for delivery in Q1 next year. Now my friend has an option to get one of the models in the new e-tron range if he wants. The e-tron range for South Africa includes: e-tron 55 SUV e-tron Sportback 55 e-tron Sportback S e-tron GT RS e-tron GT Pricing starts from around R1,990,000 ($123,000) for the e-tron 55 Advanced and R3,300,000 ($204,000) for the Audi RS e-tron GT. Specialist e-tron dealerships include Bryanston, Rivonia, Sandton (in Johannesburg); Centurion, Hatfield, Menlyn (in Pretoria); Century City, Clairemont (in Cape Town) and Umhlanga & Audi Centre (in Durban). South Africans have access to a very good charging network. In fact, South Africa has one of the highest ratios of public EV chargers to EVs in the world. One of the leading players in this industry is GridCars. GridCars has partnered with several OEMs, including Audi, to provide EV owners with access to a nationwide charging network. EV owners and users can now drive comfortably around South Africa using the charging network along the major highways, such as from Johannesburg to Durban and from Johannesburg to Cape Town. For a very long time, South Africans only had a few EV models to choose from. It’s really good to see Audi bringing all these models to South Africa. The Audi RS e-tron GT joins its cousin, the Porsche Taycan, which has been available in South Africa since mid-last year. I hope the other cousins from the ID. side of the family, such as the ID.4 from VW, will also be offered to customers in South Africa very soon. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/cleantechnica.com/2021/11/29/reservations-now-open-for-audis-e-tron-range-in-south-africa-pricing-confirmed/amp/
