Hi ian, have you had a diagnostic check done to see what the airbag issue is?i find on these models that the airbag light is slow to go out if theyve been parked up for a while, maybe get it plugged in and see can fault be cleared.
the seat belt probably need to be fully extended and the cleaned with warm soapy water, also some lubricant on the runners will help.its worth a try anyway.greg
getting it rebuilt is a great idea if you could find someone to take it on.if youve no joy theres a lad in scotland who still breaks a lot of these coupes as far as i know.mike ball is his name and audibits2 is the ebay sellers name.greg
no problem gareth,it amazes me when people come on here looking for help and then dont have the courtesy to reply or let us know if the advice was helpful or not.
hi ian, thanks for the advice.ive done most of the things youve mentioned over the last 12 months and its improved slightly but ill check later for the isv and give it a clean.other than this issue its a great car and i love taking it out.ill post an update on how i get on later....cheers greg.
happy christmas to all members on the forum, its a great source of valuable information and interesting topics.long may it continue
heres to 2023,best wishes to all.greg.
i dont know if this is any help but an audi mechanic told me lately to always leave the mirror control switch on the setting pointing to the passenger side mirror.this turns off the heating element which prevents the glue drying out.obviously when you need to heat mirrors just switch to centre setting.greg.
hi antony, maybe try mike ball at audibits2,i think hes in scotland somewhere, its been a while since ive got parts from him but he used to specialise in all parts for audis from around that era.
you could probably buy one in a breakers for 100,fitting it isnt a big job and getting it wired by an autoelectrician would be the cheapest way to go i think.greg
a very clean example of a d2,id love to buy it but by the time i get it back here to ireland and the government hammer me for vrt[vehicle registration tax]it would be near 5k,best of luck with the sale though, greg.
hi,i know the 2.6 rack wont fit the 2.0 coupe and thats 1994,it would probably be easier to get your own one rebuilt as thats what id to do with mine 2 years ago, greg.
thanks for the reply steve, ive just changed the 4 glow plugs so we will see if the fault stays cleared, never had any issues with it starting ,even after a few days parked up in cold weather.hopefully this sorts it,thanks again.
