  1. The plug should be like the one in the picture but over on the right hand side instead http://www.wikiobd.co.uk/vehicle.php?vh=23
  2. Just had a bit more of a search on this problem and it seems like the issue is more with the instrument panel which tends to go faulty over time. Do you have any warranty with the car?
  3. Hi Mel...welcome to the Forum The car looks great! Hopefully the small faults aren't detracting too much from the fun of driving it? I would recommend getting the security system scanned to look for fault codes to give you a clue as to the cause of the false alarms. Let us know how you get on with sorting the faults Cheers Trevor
  4. That's odd that it flickers between certain speeds! Sounds like a resistance issue, maybe replace the switch especially if it doesn't alter the light setting
  5. Hi Simon...welcome to the Forum There are a few threads on here regarding MMi cables and connectivity. Some state that the cable will connect to the iPhone but not work through the MMi....best have a search through to see if there's anything that helps. There are some tutorials in the Technical Section that show how to set up the MMi for ApplePlay. Good luck Trevor
  6. I would agree with slee1977 Castrol Edge is superb as well as Mobil 1 .... both cost a lot more than a standard oil but you are getting quality and if you want your engine to last for many years then its worth the investment.
  7. It looks as though the A4 had LED rear lighting from 2012/13 Here is a link to rear light units available for the A4 range http://www.audiownersclub.com/parts-results/A4-S4-RS4-_facelift__/Rear-Light-Assemblies/44262
  8. Hi Matthew...welcome to the Forum You haven't moved that far then...Skoda to Audi, at least you should be familiar with how it all works Good to have you onboard Cheers Trevor
  9. No personal experience of removal, sorry.
  10. I read a post on here about cheap HID lamps interfering with the wiper operation....? Alternatively, linkage broken or blown fuse with iced up wiper blades stuck on the screen on start-up?
  11. Hi Sue...welcome to the Forum I imagine you are not getting radio reception because you are out in the middle of the Welsh valleys..only joking :-) I guess you could bypass the Diversity box direct to the radio to see if this improves it and also diagnoses the box as faulty, Link to replacement aerial amplifiers http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/171360801400?clk_rvr_id=1148637492034&vectorid=229508&lgeo=1&item=171360801400&rmvSB=true Let us know how you get on with this Cheers Trevor (lovely Welsh name)
  12. Hi Patrick....welcome to the Forum I personally don't know where the bleed screw is but you could slightly loosen the hose connections to the matrix until the air/coolant emits from there. Let us know if you do find the bleed screw Cheers Trevor
  13. I would think the best bet would be to go back to the dealer and mention it doesn't work and see if they can guide you in the right direction. There are a few links in the Technical Section of this forum on setting up MMI which may have some info in there of use.
  14. We have had a few responses from members who have taken their car for recall and unfortunately it is not favourable. Most have complained about EGR faults, one or two have said about idle speed and air con faults but worth searching through the forum posts to see what you find. It is entirely up to you as to whether you take it in for the recall and I believe it is a voluntary recall and not a safety recall. I have been issued with two recall notices for my Honda...both airbags on separate occasions...willing for them to replace the drivers bag but not the passenger bag as would probably involve removing the dashboard and don't want to get squeaks and rattles from where it hasn't been put back right or just the case that it has been removed and refitted after sitting in the same position for 9 years. Let us know what you decide Cheers Trevor
  15. The way to quickly test the sensors is to switch the ignition on but with the engine off, engage reverse gear and go round the back of the car. Listen very closely to each sensor and they should emit a very feint clicking noise if they are working okay. Let us know what you find Cheers Trevor
  16. I would have though quite possibly so, but almost certainly they would share an earth which could be the cause
  17. I would probably start by removing the door card and seeing what's going on in there and then running a live feed and earth wire to the disconnected components to ensure they are working. Then I would trace back from the component to see where the fault lies.
  18. it just sounds like there's no power going to the components within the door....
  19. Hi Mark....welcome to the Forum It sounds like a wiring fault (possibly going into the door through the trunking) as if they have no power and may have broken the wire or popped a fuse. Worth checking the wiring by pulling back the trunking and looking for broken wires Let us know what you find Cheers Trevor
  20. Hi Jonlee...welcome to the Forum If it's a sill cover then it will more than likely be plastic. Could you send us a photo of it ? Cheers Trevor
  21. Fingers crossed it's a cheap one to resolve
  22. also, I would have thought it may have chucked out a lot of soot at the same time
  23. Hi Thomas...welcome to the Forum If you would like to take a photo with your phone and post it up as an image...that may work. Good results from the remap! Cheers Trevor
  24. Hi Philip...welcome to the Forum Once again, I find myself completely agreeing with Magnet, who's words are indeed pearls of wisdom....buy cheap, buy twice! One other consideration for upgrading brakes is to switch to braided steel hoses (Goodridge) which will enhance the pedal pressure (less swelling of the hoses, opposed to standard rubber ones) and producing a firmer pedal. Usually around £50 for a complete set. Keep us updated with your progress Cheers Trevor
  25. It may be settings relating to speed increase (the faster you go the louder it gets) but have a look at the following link to see if there's any useful information in there about it.
