Hi Jon, there are 2 types of service. Minor and major. Minor service will include oil filter and oil change and the major service will include:
Oil and oil filter change, air filter change, pollen filter change. I'm.sure there is something I've forgotten!?
If it were me I'd have the service done early at the time the oil change is due.
In terms of price, it's worth asking your local Audi dealer(s) what offers they have on by ringing around ;) there's always a discount they can do I'm sure!
When I worked at a volkswagen service department the minor service was £169 if memory serves me correctly. I can't remember what price the major service was, sorry.
Abit random but a cambelt and water pump was around £499 with Volkswagen (I think).
Hope I've helped :)
Cheers

Feel free to post a pic of your a4. I do prefer the older Audi's to be honest :)

Just had the ok from the boss so I'll be there. It'll be interesting to see what she's got left as the poor girl gets thrashed!
Some time this year I'll be getting her mapped most likely after a service, terra clean and a diagnostics check to make sure all is order 😀. Then I'll be interested to get her back on the dyno to see what she gains 😜.
Nice one Rob! :)

I emailed the event person about just presenting the ticket on my phone rather than print of a ticket and got a reply back below
Hi Paul,
Thank you for getting in touch, it’s great to hear that you are coming along to Simply Audi. Yes I can confirm that it’s no problem for you to show your tickets on your phone if you do not have access to a printer. However, due to Beaulieu’s rural location I would advise screen grabbing them as signal can vary.
I hope you enjoy the event.
Kind regards,Emily Adamson

Good info there Paul :)

Thanks Steve.
it was something I wanted to do anyway.
You're welcome :) I hope Rob can make it because then you'll have 3 :)
You'll have good fun, I always enjoy rolling road sessions. I've not had a chance to get the a6 on one yet, but my a6 is still off the road due to a failed brake vacuum pump which is on back order from Audi. Should be mid Jan before the part arrives.
Cheers

I'm unsure why it's not shown up previously, in wonder if it's because.its intermittent. The intermittent faults are the worst to cure!
You're welcome, glad I could.help :)

Hi James, welcome to the forum :)

My first advice would be to get a diagnostic check carried out to see what, if any fault codes come up.
However my guess would be that you need a new thermostat.

UPDATE!
So today we managed to do a diagnostic check on the car, turns out there no fault codes on the car at all. Not one!
The mechanic who came down said it is the Multitronic/Transmission oil. The weird thing is according to the service history the oil was checked at 48000 and the car is only on 56000 but it wasnt done by audi and just by an independant garage.
So we’ll get in touch with Audi and see if they can get it in for a service. So it might be not be a massive job hopefully!
Fingers crossed it's just a service that's required :) whilst it's in at Audi they will do a free vehicle health check and if you ask them, they should be able to tell you what work the a6 has had done at any Audi dealer.
Keep us posted on how you get on :)
Cheers

Best thing is get a diagnostic check done to establish which part it is. This will cost around £60. If it's the drivers door locking mechanism then I think you'll be looking around £120. I say this, as I paid that much to get a similar issue with my central locking fixed which was due to the drivers door lock going faulty. This job.was done by an auto electrician.
I'm unsure how much it would cost to replace the central locking module though, sorry.

Ok, Derby Audi phoned a short while ago to deliver two lots of bad news and one piece of excellent news.
The fault is not covered by the warranty and the cost to me would be between £3k and £4k. Basically it needs a whole new glass roof and all components.
Fortunately, Audi HQ and the sales team at the dealer are going to split the cost between them so I don’t have to part with anything. One positive review coming up on Google once I have it back around the 19th
That's fantastic news!! :)

I'll keep the thread updated when I get the fault codes, I've contacted the seller and he is willing to help us resolve the problem, it's one guy with a quite a few cars for sale. He has also said that if it is a big issue with the car he should be liable to send it back to the auction that he originally bought the car from himself and we can get a full refund for the car. But I would rather fix than get rid to be honest. I only drove it for a day and with all of the optional extra's on it and the way it looks and drove (when it was working) I have already fallen in love with it a bit.
I'll chuck the fault codes on here when I have them, but to any one else reading this if you yourself or anyone you know has had a similar issue please let me know.
Thanks Steve
Cheers
James
It sounds like the trader is being fair. Let's hope the issue can be resolved quickly :)

It'll be interesting to see what fault codes come up. As you have only had the car one day, it might be worth contact in the seller. I'm assuming you bought it from a dealership?

Sorry to hear you're having issues with your a6. It looks a lovely car. Probably a long shot but I'm wondering whether or not you've been able to get a diagnostic check carried out to see if or what fault codes have been thrown up?
