Hi glow plug cylinder 2, what symptoms do you have?, a little bit more background will help. Steve

Turbo clean
Hi NOT sealed but check that you can undo the filler plug before draining it, you wouldn't be the first person to fall down that hole, their grade and capacity are available on line. Steve.

Coolant temperature sensor
Hi just had a quick look and it may be the one in the back of the cylinder head. Steve.

Coolant temperature sensor
Hi go on LLL website plumb in your VIN and the part you want and it should bring up a diagram of where it lives on the engine, from memory I think it might be on the thermostat housing. Can you post your VIN I can look on my parts system. Steve.

White exhaust smoke
Hi if the oil is running out through the turbo I would not be driving it very far as when it goes full blown it sucks the oil into the intake side and runs on it, worse case scenario is you can't turn the engine off the car has to be stalled, bit difficult when your going down the road at warp speed because the engine has found a new source of fuel, a new unit from Audi will muller your bank balance but a refurbed unit is probably between £400-600 plus fitting. Steve.

Removing Alternator
Hi when you reassemble it buy a pot of Aluminium grease, I always coat everything in it as its a lot better than copper grease at preventing bi metal corrosion. Steve.

Turbo clean
Hi yes, just remove the MAF connector first or you will break it, the connector involves pulling up the grey tab and it should release, I would also invest in a pair of spring clip pliers as they are pretty tight, I see someone has been busy with the silicone hoses? but I can honestly say in thirty years that I have never seen that section fail. Steve.

Turbo clean
Hi its the pipe with corrugations that runs from the other side of the Map sensor on the right, dont spray down the Maf or you will damage it and yes Wynns is good. Steve.

Looking for a spare part
Hi did you read the custom hoses add at the bottom of the thread. Steve.

Turbo clean
Hi you can use the turbo cleaner that you spray down the pipe that runs from the airbox to the turbo, this is only a short term fix, the long term fix is replace or recondition your existing unit, there is always an underlying cause for it clogging either high milage or a bad EGR valve. Steve.

Walnut shell blasting
Hi Terry nothing wrong at all being interested in how it all works, BUT never take anything on face value as there are a million Snake Oil salesmen out there, I know as I have met a lot of them, take heed and go ask many other people if what they say is correct, absolutely no shame in that its the way we all learn even at my age I constantly come across things that I did not know about, your basic knowledge of how to run a vehicle is excellent so never be afraid to ask a question however silly you think it is, the forum is always being asked bone questions and the members will always try and answer even if they dont get any feedback from most of the one post wonders, you have always answered so that puts you on the list of worth the effort of trying to help. Steve.

Removing Alternator
Hi I know exactly where you are at, changed a turbo hose on my daughters Q3 last Friday and it looked like I had been fighting a wildcat, I am now a shareholder in my local chemist off the back of how much TCP and Germoline I have bought, sliding bushes, that must be the new term for location dowel. STEVE.

Walnut shell blasting
Hi Terry, give it up!, if you listen to the lying Barstewards at Audi one of two things will happen, you will either suffer premature bankruptcy or an early grave worrying what might happen, the water pumps on petrol cars are remotely driven on chain engines therefore have a lot easier life, therefore the water they saw was probably in the service managers eyes while he was adding up the rip off fee, old saying, what if, what if, if your aunt had dangly bits and wore Y Fronts would she not be your uncle. Steve.

Xenon issues
Highly likely only one sensor on later models as they opted to fit light range modules which work off one sensor at the back. Steve.

Removing Alternator
Hi its probably a location dowel, they are normally on one of the lugs try tilting the unit the side that comes down first is the side without the dowel, once moving you have to get the unit twist and pull/push depending what side the idiots have put the dowel. Steve.

Removing Alternator
Hi sometimes its just bi metal corrosion between the bracket and the alternator body as they are designed to be tight, try spraying the lugs with release fluid and then give it a little encouragement with a pry bar alternatively get you alternator part number and put it on eBay to see how many fixing points it has. Steve.

Turbo doesn't stay active, why?
Hi NO the cleaner goes in to the corrugated hose between the air box and turbo, disconnect the hose at the box end [jubilee/expansion clip] then with the engine warm and running apply cleaner down the intake hose you have disconnected. Steve.

Walnut shell blasting
Hi firstly Cliff its used to clean the the backs of the valves inlet/exhaust via the cylinder head ports which involves removing the manifold originally designed for Diesel engines. If you have a petrol engine you will never need it and personally I have run my Diesel engines way over the specified life span of the engine and never needed it, dont know where you were told this but tell them not to give up the job at Jackanory. Steve.

Turbo doesn't stay active, why?
Hi yes the vacuum controlled bit with the rod, if you get the turbo cleaner in a can you disconnect the intake hose from the airbag and with the engine warm and running squirt the cleaner down the hose at the intervals specified on the aerosol. Steve.

EGR valve removal after stage 1 remap
Hi having now imparted that particular piece of information another possibility rears it ugly head, if you pour acid which the fluid basically is if you leave the sensors in which they dont do with the off car cleaning it blinds at best or kills the downstream EGT sensor, have known people to use brick acid and leave it to soak overnight which has totalled both EGT sensors which then stops regeneration and the whole thing just fills up double quick.

Turbo doesn't stay active, why?
deo.... Hi the Turbine variable blades are sticking on the exhaust side and are unable to maintain there position or if its a vacuum controlled boost sensor the diaphragm may be leaking, easy way to check is give it tin of squirt down the intake trunking turbo cleaner if that improves it its the vanes sticking if not its probably the actuator on the turbo. Steve.

EGR valve removal after stage 1 remap
Hi hopefully as a lot of them are only interested in getting the soot levels down [easy] using any proprietary DPF cleaner the ash is near impossible to clear with anything like that, I constantly get to read cars where the owner says that the DPF has been cleaned a couple of weeks ago only to find the DPF is nigh on its limit for ash which wont leave a lot of room for the new soot load therefore it does one of two things it either keeps regenerating the reduced space or wont regenerate at all as the forced regeneration process will set light to the car as its protracted and will overheat the DPF and probably set the DPF pressure sensor alight which is quite common on the 2.0 litre engines, I have come across this before where the garage has cleaned the soot out and re zeroed the loadings with the ash still in there, when I tried a forced regen the DPF after 15 mins was glowing red and I had to abort the process which caused chronic oil dilution so adding more problems, I have trialed all known ash dissolving compounds on the market and if the ash is anything around max, THEY DONT WORK the only way is have the DPF off and have it professionally cleaned, from that you get a flow certificate before and after and you have the certain knowledge its clean, the ash forms large brick particles around the edge of the core inside and the only way to remove these is chemically clean the unit and then bake it to break up the ash the final process is a reverse flush under pressure which removes it because it goes out the way it went in as the channels are much wider. Steve.

2008 3.0TDI brake pads warning light
Hi I think you will find that there is only one brake wear indicator on the front and the back repair cables are readily available on line, my Alfa Mito has two wear indicators on the front and back but only uses one station on each axle. Please note the loom cables up to the ECU are around £200 each which is what makes the repair plugs such a wonderful proposition at around a tenner. Steve.

EGR valve removal after stage 1 remap
Hi a new EGR will not cure the problem, you have to check the ASH levels and soot, but in saying that if the ash levels are high it wont regenerate anyway as ash cannot be burnt off, my guess is your EGT sensors are duff and not supplying the ECU with the correct temperature to initiate a regen therefore the DPF just blocks up, the other thing that causes this effect is the DPF pressure sensor, therefore you are better served replacing EGT and pressure sensors, BUT not before checking the DPF ash levels the ash limit is 60% anywhere near that and it needs taking off and cleaning or replacing [expensive] , in essence no amount of sensor replacement will cure high ash content. Steve.
