Audi offers trade-in bonus for switching to latest efficiency technologies
I would assume scrapped as the intention is to rid the earth of polluting vehicles....I wonder if that includes classic cars and bikes though...just a matter of time I'm sure. Also, for the intended Autonomous cars / road networks it would need to operate with cars that have 'drive-by-wire' technology for it to work so that's all old school cars not being allowed into cities....which is what they are already instigating around Europe.

Sim Card
Hi Gary I have always found Google Earth to be quite high on data consumption so would always cache the memory on WiFi for the trip by enlarging the route to high detail and zooming back in again....wouldn't then take up as much data. Obviously different for the Sim in the Audi, can't really hook into WiFi there. Let us know what you find, but I think 1Gb a month may just cover it Cheers, Trevor

Audi's gliding over potholes! :O
interesting article Bradley....will put it in the new Audi news sections. Somewhat similar to Citroen hydraulic suspension except they just ploughed through the potholes and you never even felt them.... @Magnet will remember the old Citroen CX and will probably confirm how good the suspension was

Audi offers trade-in bonus for switching to latest efficiency technologies
AUDI AG is offering attractive trade-in bonuses to customers who switch to an Audi with Euro 6 standard from diesel-powered cars with emission standards Euro 1 through Euro 4. The price advantage is scaled by model. Depending on the category of the new car, it amounts to between €3,000 and €10,000. The bonus is especially attractive for customers who select an Audi with plug-in-hybrid technology or a g-tron model that runs on CNG (compressed natural gas). The initiative is applicable in Germany with immediate effect. In this way, Audi is helping to accelerate the replacement of older vehicles with modern and more environmentally friendly cars. If a customer decides to take advantage of this offer, his or her car is taken off the road and scrapped. Together with additional measures agreed within the context of the German “National Diesel Forum”, this is intended to quickly and sustainably reduce nitrogen oxide emissions. The bonuses offered by Audi are aimed at all drivers of diesel cars with the emission standards Euro 1 through Euro 4, regardless of the model or brand. The company is also offering attractive conditions for customer who change over to a late-model used Audi. The bonuses are financed by AUDI AG and are available until December 31, 2017; they will be granted directly through the Audi dealerships without customers having to make separate applications. Customers who decide to buy an Audi with technology facilitating especially low emissions, such as an e-tron model with plug-in hybrid drive, have additional benefits: If the conditions for the German government’s “environmental bonus” are fulfilled, customers receive that bonus in addition to the Audi bonus. Furthermore, Audi doubles its share of the government’s “environmental bonus” from the current €1,500 in the context of this temporary trade-in campaign. For future drivers of an Audi g-tron, the trade-in bonus increases by €1,000 compared with the regular amount. So with the soon-to-be-launched new models A4 Avant g-tron* or A5 Sportback g-tron**, it increases to €9,500. With the climate-friendly fuel Audi e-gas, the Audi g-tron models produce 80 percent less CO2 than a gasoline-powered car with a similar performance***. Regardless of the trade-in bonus, Audi is making a three-year supply without additional charges of this fuel from regenerative sources available to customers who order a g-tron model by May 31, 2018. The customers merely pay the regular price for CNG (compressed natural gas) at the filling station. * Audi A4 Avant g‑tron: CNG consumption in kg/100 km: 4.4 - 3.8; Combined fuel consumption in l/100 km: 6.5 - 5.5 (36.2 - 42.8 US mpg); Combined CO2 emissions in g/km (CNG): 117 - 102 (188.3 - 164.2 g/mi); Combined CO2 emissions in g/km: 147 - 126 (236.6 - 202.8 g/mi) ** Audi A5 Sportback g-tron: CNG consumption in kg/100 km: 4.3 - 3.8; Combined fuel consumption in l/100 km: 6.4 - 5.6 (36.8 - 42.0 US mpg); Combined CO2 emissions in g/km (CNG): 115 - 102 (185.1 - 164.2 g/mi); Combined CO2 emissions in g/km (gasoline): 144 - 126 (231.7 - 202.8 g/mi) ***In pure e-gas mode (CNG) with a well-to-wheel analysis (a life cycle assessment that includes fuel production and normal driving of the automobile), in comparison with an equivalent model in the same performance class with a conventional gasoline engine. Fuel consumption and CO2 emission figures given in ranges depend on the tires/wheels used. Further information on official fuel consumption figures and the official specific CO2 emissions of new passenger cars can be found in the “Guide on the fuel economy, CO2 emissions and power consumption of new passenger cars models,” which is available free of charge at all sales dealerships and from DAT Deutsche Automobil Treuhand GmbH, Hellmuth-Hirth-Str. 1, 73760 Ostfildern-Scharnhausen, Germany (www.dat.de).

Engine codes??
Hi Ian I would personally address the issue with the coolant temperature sensor first as if there is a fault there (defective sensor or wiring/connection) then that could invoke the code for the Air Flow Sensor and other associated problems. Maybe best to list all of the codes you have and we can look at them all individually

Oil recommendations
Hi David I would totally recommend Quantum and as you say it is dealer recommended. You can experience problems with using non-VAG approved / specification oils especially problematic on the PD engines so not worth taking a risk in my mind

Slight knock / tapping
Hi Nick....welcome to the Forum To start with, the temp gauge is more than likely a loose wire on the connector attaching to the sensor...seen it a few times...easy to identify and repair. The tapping/knocking noise may possibly be something left loose when the gearbox was removed and refitted...worth checking movement on the engine (leave in first gear with the engine and handbrake off and rock backwards and forwards quite rigorously to hear for any knocking. The remote...there are quite a few posts on this forum for possible solutions...worth a trawl and trial and error until you find something that works. Good to have you onboard Cheers, Trevor

MPG A4
Hi abbyr50 That sounds incredibly juicy...that roughly equates to just over 22 miles to the gallon (by my calculations....grade E in Maths) Either you have a lead boot on your right foot or there is something wrong with the car. Has it been serviced lately?

I'm back, and with a broken car!
Hi Darren any news on your Audi yet....did you get it sorted?

Faulty wiper stalk - temperamental washers / intermittent
I think I would be tempted to have a trial run at removing the airbag and then getting the part number to avoid any ambiguity when ordering a replacement part. The airbag is easy enough, just remember to disconnect the battery negative terminal and leave off for at least 30 minutes before removing any SRS electrical connections. At least this way, when you get the new part it will be a doddle to fit

A5 3.2 Coupes
Hi Matt.....welcome to the Forum It would be worth having a trawl through the A5 section of this Forum to see what crops up as a potential or recurring fault. Also, look under Audi Recalls section, there are some bits and pieces in there for the A5...not that they all catch fire though :-( Another issue is one which affects all diesels in the VAG range and that is the emissions recall....lots of info on that in here as well. Let us know if/when you get an A5 Cheers, Trevor

Clunking noise - gears?
It could be some play in a link (such as an engine mount or similar) that is being stressed on acceleration/deceleration and making a 'clunking' noise which would be indicative of a worn bush

A8 for Bargain price
Seems like you're working through the issues Craig...and nice to see an old warhorse like that being revived, all too easy nowadays to scrap an oldie that needs work doing.
