  1. I'm sorry to hear that, I've always found you get better service whilst being in the dealer rather than over the phone.
  2. Trust me Paul I looked at all options and thought I'd play it safe! Believe me I looked at alot of places on the web. It's in nursling on the outskirts of Southampton my thinking being if I did have a fault I could hopefully find a garage to sort me out.
  3. Welcome to the forum, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) I'm assuming you are looking at getting the panel filter rather than the cone filter? If you are trying to increase power then I would advise an engine remap instead as I'll improve bhp and potentially mpg. You'll only gain 5,bhp tops with an uprated panel filter.and slightly improved acceleration (in theory). Obviously if your Q7 is still within warranty than the filter may void this as it's not a genuine Audi component. Obviously the benefit would be that it never has to be replaced and you will get a lifetime warranty. Cheers Steve
  4. Welcome to the forum amark, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) The a6 you are looking at should be ok as it's only covered 9k miles. Luckily the car you're looking at won't be affected by the emissions recll (scandal). Is the a6 for sale at a main dealer? Either way it's worth making sure the car has full service history. Most likely will have had it's first service by now. Cheers Steve
  5. Welcome to the forum Paul, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) Truthfully I've not seen any issues with the vag keyless system it seems to be Ford that is affected. For my keyless Ford I have a Faraday pouch which I bought off eBay for 79p and it came from China and it works a treat. A metal.tin does the job just as well. Usually theives will break.ibto your home so in order to steal your keys. (Keyless Fords excluded). With any form of steering locks they will slow down the thief and will make more noise. This therefore acts more of a deterrent, ideally meaning the thief will target a more venerable car. Hope I've helped :) Cheers Steve
  6. It's definitely worth a shot, I found both premium fuel improved my mpg. Let us know on what results you get back from the scan at the weekend :) Cheers Steve
  7. Adam is right Steve, your a3 will tell you on the dash when it is due for a service. Cheers Steve
  8. Welcome to the forum Steve, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) glad you're pleased with your a3 :) Cheers Steve
  9. I have seen the bbs rims on other limited edition a6 cars and they look awesome! Definitely sounds a lovely spec! 🙂 I'm looking forward to seeing some pics 🙂
  10. Yea I saw that on the website this evening :) I've now booked my hotel as my brother and I are traveling down the night before. It's a 3 hour drive for us.
  11. Fair point. Erm, there isn't a Haynes manual and the only paper manuals are from Bentley's. However I do believe you can get copies of the Audi workshop manuals on a CD from.ebay but I can't say I've used one. Cheers Steve
  12. Wow it's stunning! :) Which magazines has it been featured in?
  13. Welcome to the forum Tom, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) Great looking s3 you have there! And I'd love to see pics of your Rocco! :) Cheers Steve
  14. As some of you are aware I was unable to participate in the rolling road day at the end of last year at street racers in Syston despite being there, due to the Audi still being rebuilt after a rear end shunt. HoweverI have now been able to do a rolling road session and I'm personally pleased with the results. Bearing in mind my a6 is 16 years old and has covered 328k and the engine has never been rebuilt or even been apart. And the car is on it's 2nd turbo, this turbo covering 258k. Please note before I did this Dyno run my a6 had had a full service and had passed it's MOT with no advisories :) So when new my a6 should have had 150bhp and on the day my a6 achieved 139bhp. This is at the flywheel. On the road this power equates to 114bhp. Torque when new should be max 310Nm whereas my a6 was producing 273Nm of torque. Hope you enjoy the pics :) Cheers Steve
  15. Glad you've had good results, like you since putting in premium fuel it has helped mpg. Think when I go to simply Audi I'll put a full tank in and top up with Redex.
  16. Tyres wise, my dad and I found the a6 runs the best on Bridgestones. Suspension arms unfortunately do wear on the a6 both upper and lower this is because it is a big heavy car. It sounds like you'd be the perfect person to take care of the a6 and like I say as long as it's maintained then you should be fine :) Keep.us posted on how you get on :)
  17. Welcome to the forum Simon, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) Great to see another a6 c5 owner on here :) You are right in saying the a6 c5 is bullet proof as long as it has been maintained. My diesel a6 has moved 328k on the orginal engine and gearbox which have never been rebuilt. And it's been owned only by my dad and then me. So 1 family owned from new :) £650 for cambelt and water pump is about standard for Audi and I certainly wouldn't be paying £1000! It might be worth you ringing around the other local Audi dealers to see which one does the best price. More often than not they have offers on for having the cambelt and water pump done. Make sure the aircon works because if it doesn't the it could be a £1000 bill as a worse case scenario. And it's worth checking all other electronic items work too. This is also key with the computer between the dials. The pixels can start to fail and the repair is either replacement instrument cluster or replacement computer screen. I have to say it looks in very good condition and you couldn't tell it was a 20 year old car! I think that interior combo is not that common either. It looks nice with the sport seats and 3 spoke wheel. Those items were extra on mine but they may have been standard on yours due to the engine choice when new. Just like BL cars there are a couple of rust spots on these and it's the edge of the front wheel arches. This is due to VAG putting foam inserts between the wing and wheel arch liner which obviously absorbs moisture and then rota the front wings from the inside out. This affected most vag cars of the era such as: a4, a6, golf, Bora, Passat etc. The only other rust I've found is in the inside of the front doors at the bottom but this appears to be more surface rust on mine. Any other Rust or bubbling paint could be a sign of accident damage repair as these cars repel rust well as they are galvanized. I believe the gearbox on your a6 is CVT and it's worth checking that the gear changes are smooth as any issues could be expensive to fix. Don't worry about sharing pics of your metros, it's great to seem our members other interests! :) I have ac1993 Ford escort as well as the a6. I've had the Ford since I was 16! Cheers Steve
  18. Welcome to the forum Gareth, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) I've found these YouTube videos which may help: Hope they're useful :) Cheers Steve
  19. Hi Justin, the Q7 running gear is the same as the Touareg so I suspect it does :) Is there nothing in the manual about it?
  20. Welcome to the forum Tom, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) Sounds like you've got your games on a cracking a6 with that mileage! Unsure if the ashtray is a common issue but the front cover has come off mine. It sits on loosely though. The fuseboxes are located on each end of the dashboard. Obviously you'll have to have the doors open to access them. The covers just clip off. I can't help with the removal of a door card I'm affraid. Sorry. I can't say I've noticed my battery cover to rattle. I'm assuming the clips are intact on both sides? Don't forget to post some pics up when you get a chance :) I'd also love to know what the spec is on the limited edition as I've never been able to find out! Cheers :) Steve
  21. I believe there are only 2 types of headlights normal or xenon. My advice would be to look.on.ebay :) Cheers Steve
  22. You're welcome, glad I could help :) Once the new turbo is fitted you should have your a4 back to normal :) Cheers Steve
