  1. The Scirocco is the one car I wish I never parted with. It was just the 1.6 75bhp mk11 but I loved it. My second car. i have a rotisserie too, never used it yet though. I bought it to do the mk1 Golf. Just not enough time in the day is there??
  2. Genuinely not being rude here mate, are you confusing vented brakes with drilled and grooved brakes. Even Fiat pandas have vented brakes on the fronts??

  4. I have come across this two times in the past, one petrol one derv. The petrol one was obvious. One of the plates had been ill fitted. The diesel one was a pipe join. However, to find where each one was I followed advice on brimming the fuel tank, driving home (9 miles) lifting the seat and seeing what was wet. Easy to find. But with petrol please be mindful, the liquid itself is not actually that flammable, but vapours are extremely flammable. Take care if you are doing anything here by yourself. Keep all doors open and if you need to move wire connections etc you might be safer to disconnect the battery!! If the leak is not from the tank it is in the engine bay or somewhere along the flow and return pipes from-to tank and engine bay. Using some kitchen towel or tissues follow the pipes, dabbing the tissue on until you find a wet patch. Other than that I am out of ideas. Good luck.

  6. Lots of cars are different but I am sure your A3 has access to the petrol tank under the base of the rear seat. My ber is that one of the plates/caps/lids or pipes is a little loose. Definately worth a look.
  7. You will be a lot cheaper to have a stainless steel system made, bet it would cost less than £500 for a copy of what you have. Plus will make selling the car a bit easier too!!
  8. One suggestion is buy a cheap iPod shuffle. Download all you music to it and just leave it plugged in. Second hand of eBay £40 for a half decent one. Much cheaper? but then maybe I am just a cheapskate?.. Answers on a postcard please🤔

  11. I also agree with Steve's advice. Especially in terms of an accident, your fault or not. The accident investigation team plugs the car into a reader (VCDS usually). This will give a reading on the programmed map on the car. Best advice is to approach your current insurer with the question, could I have my car remapped for ecconomy (who's to say how much power could be gained from that?) They will say yes or no. If no don't do it. Wait until you next insurance due date and shop around for insurers that allow upgrades. 😈However, the 3.0V6 is one hell of a responsive motor. I have seen one taken way past 400bhp with a map and turbo, exhaust and a bigger IC. But I believe 300 is easily achievable from a reMap alone. I have fitted a bigger turbo to my T5, it hasn't been remapped though (still comes up on VCDS as a 130) and it is now running at over 170bhp. But, I have reduced my oil changes to 10-12k and I use an oil additive called ZX1. This helps to protect from future wear in my opinion. I haven't uprated the brakes but I have put larger wheels and good grippy tyres though!!
  12. I am gutted for you guys too that there was only the two of you. Genuinely wish I could of done the journey but just too far away. My A6 is basically off the road now until Late Sept but after then if there are any shows you are attending slightly closer to Hadrian wall I am well up for it.

  14. No, not fussy at lol!?! you will probably find lots for sale so be picky. Go for a car with the most spec you can lowest miles and full service history. Questions to ask are when is cam belt due? When is next service due? Obviously MOT due? But also make sure all 4 tyres are with a good tread, last thing you need to do is have to spend £400 on tyres and £200 on a service straight away. Hope that helps a bit Beck.
  15. The fact it is a soap based product it will foam up inside the system. Get it drained, don't drive it!! £50 top whack spent now will be a lot cheaper than a new engine a few miles down the road.

  17. My A6 has same size wheel tyre for spare, 18" 2x Mazda 6's have 18"s but 14" space saver. The T5 has 18"s but 16" spare (standard commercial wheel). With regards legal requirements, when using a space saver you must not exceed max speed indicated on space saver, usually 50mph. It has to be load rated (usually only applies the vans and large SUV's. Obviously needs legal amount of tread left. If using spare and pulled by the police (very unlikely) you may be given a ticket which indicates a 'site and date seen' and you basically have 14 days to get a correct wheel back on your vehicle. (My better half was a lady in blue). However, if you have a 4x4 system you really should try your very best to get a spare that has as close to the same rolling diameter as your standard wheels to help avoid any problems To said 4 wheel drive system.
  18. That sounds like timing to me, could it be a result of the remap? Has it been advanced somewhat for the remap? it is difficult to tell on an iPad though for sound though!!
  19. Your right to think that cam wear would give that sort of noise but you really need to look at the followers. These will give a better indication of wear to produce noise. do you have increased pressure from engine, taking oil filler cap off does it allow a lot of air pressure out, could be injector seals on there way out in that case, gives a bit of noise too?
  20. I have seen a lot worse looking lobes than that on engines that are running sweet. would like to see what other people think?

  22. Hmmm, Shetland makes you very isolated for sure!! Was one of the gearbox specialists in Glasgow Mackies? That's who I use and they are very very good but sadly not the cheapest!! Try speaking to John, he is most helpful and will point you in the right direction. However, I I was living where you are I would seriously consider buying a box on an exchange basis. You can just swap it over. But speak to as many specialists as possible. If somehow it could be a sensor or something that is mounted on the external case of the gear box then there is no need to remove the box in theory. If however it's internal........ an automatic gear box is the only thing I would not attempt to fix myself, far too much to go wrong. Mackies btw have a high tech bench mounted tester. I am sure that if your box was shipped to them they would have no issue testing it for faults. The reason why people would prefer to have the whole vehicle is because part of the testing is done through basically VCDS. Best of luck mate.
  23. It was a long shot mate, sorry it didn't work. just spent a wee while on the net searching and to common issues come up. battery not up to the job anymore. Have you tried charging the battery or even jumping with another car? please see pic attached, the other common fault is wiring issue. yep, I will not be disconnecting my battery unless absolutely essential to do so!!
  24. Could this be an imobaliser issue? Try using the key in the door to lock and then unlock the drivers door that is. 3 times. I have heard this can work for other cars so might b worth a try on yours. It's free any how. If not I think you need to get codes read on car by someone with VCDS to reset something. Tell you what though, it's scared me off ever disconnecting my battery!!
