  1. Welcome to the forum Matty. you would be better to start a new thread to get more responses. Include mileage and angina type etc, the more info the better.
  2. It would make sense to try to solve the glow plug issue first. These cars have unusual wiring issues. The short here could well be affecting another system. for example, if I disconnect the front light unit on my T5 (different vehicle I know, but) the main cooling fan comes on!?! in the mean time check your air filter too. It could be past its best and causing air restriction.
  3. Hey Reece, put up a photo!! Interested to see which one you have gone too. If you have fitted a compatible wheel and it doesn't work then you will most likely have to go to someone with VCDS to reprogram the car to 'use' what functions it can. Do be aware for MOT you will have a fail with no horn working.
  4. It doesn't look like you have had the fault codes read? If this is true then I think that would be your first step, it may well point to something for you. But, if it's not injectors I would say either turbo issues or a cracked intercooler.
  5. That sounds like a bush or a mount. I see your car is very new so I would expect there is a loose bolt maybe? However, I will listen tonight and give a few options if I can.
  6. Gavo mate, I really feel for you here. This has been a nightmare for you. So I have been away for a few days with work etc and come back on here expecting you to have gotten to the bottom of this issue. I got excited for a second then thought well strut top mounts does not make sense. Magnet picked up on this straight away too, it really does not make sense at all. You can do a basic test on the strut top mounts by the help of a friend. Park the car on grass, wetter the better. Don't have the engine on!! Get some one to turn the steering wheel from lock to lock while you have the bonnet up and both listen and feel the strut mounting point. The offending side will make a noise and maybe even clunk at either full lock. Hope this helps. Going 0mph or 100mph won't make a difference to the noise of the strut top mounts and I am so sure you say that you can hear. Noise when traveling now, whether you are turning or not? However, if it does indeed turn out to be these mounts then please accept my sincere appologies for offering my advice incorrectly. The dangers of reading and assuming we know what's wrong without actually driving someone's car. keep us informed though mate.
  7. Sorry, you misunderstood me, I am in my van right now (being driven by my colleague I might add) so can't actually hear the noise over the growl of the engine. Hence me asking can you describe it! i will have a listen tonight but won't be home until 10ish you see.
  8. Hey Jordan, welcome to the forum mate. i can't listen to the noise just now but can u elaborate a little more?
  9. This is an interesting one for sure. Firstly hats off to u for doing things yourself like this. I hate electrics too, there rarely seems to be any logic behind a fault!! I would say that if the part numbers are correct then the swop should in theory work BUT that just for the ignition. Will the locks fit wfrom the boot and drivers door too. Look up a local independent lock smith who deals with vehicles. Speak with them and ask if it will need reprogramming. You could have him booked in at 3pm, do the work in the morning and then cancel him if you don't need him? However, having had a lock barrel changed in my T5 I would say the cost of paying an independent to do this was worth the pennies for me!! Much lower stress levels lol.
  10. Sorry, I am not exactly sure what you mean! Can you give a little more info please
  11. Meant to say pleased you got it sorted btw!!
  12. Over some 2 years of owning cars I have had 4 soft tops. All had weird and wonderful leaks. But I do like the fact you have provided the kids with a paddling pool to keep them entertained on long journeys 😋
  13. You should always try to source air from a cold source. Cooler the temperature the more dense air is therefore you get more air in the business part of the engine which results in more bang!! So I would use the hose as Mr Q said. However, loving Piotrs' idea on how to increase induction noise. Good tip that mate!!👍
  14. I have no idea, I was only a lad, yep it was that long ago!!
  15. Lol, was just about to say use an existing VAG V10! you will remember the plastic pig, robin reliant ? Do you remember the Kitten? A 4 wheel version! A friend of my Dads fitted a 3.5 Rover V8 to one. He said if it had wings he could he taken off!
  16. Result!! Yes toothed belt is the same thing 👍 Dont forget to find out when it is next due, but I would budget for the water pump at the same time.
  17. You been off-roading again Piotr?
  18. Hey Karen, welcome to the four circles club :-). Everones advice above is totally correct. But don't get too worried. I see your car is still quite young and will therefore more than likely been well looked after. I wouldn't be surprised if the paperwork that came with car will actually tell you the mileage when the last belt was changed (if indeed you do have a timing belt, your engine could have a chain and you don't really need to have the chains done). You could also try phoning Audi them selves and ask what history they have on your car. People have mentioned water pump change too. The reason this has come up is because the timing belt actually drives the pump. And at about the 100k mark it can be a good idea to get this done at the same time as the belt because half the dismantling work is already done to actually remove the belt. Hope that makes sense. Dont panic too much, see what you can find out over the next couple of days. You might be pleasantly surprised. Hope you are loving the new car BTW.
  19. Ha, you made me choke on my soup!!
  20. Very Sad Mr Q but I love it. Guess what I might be watching tonight!?! Also, could you PM me your email so I can send you the PDF? Dan
  21. Mr Q, I can't think of seeing an Allroad in any film tbh?
  22. Piotr gives good advice here, plus would be helpful for a bit more detail. My guess is fuel filter needs changing or tandem fuel pump is playing up.
  23. That is true mate for sure if there is a fault, but I have read several threads indicating that the low oil levels prevents the gear actually fully selecting, therefore not displaying. I would say fingers crossed it's low oil level. If not many pennies. Out of interest, does it do this when cold, i.e. Just started? But gets better as everything warms up? This could indicate low oil too. Do you know not one manufacturer fits a low oil level warning light for gear boxes!!
  24. Might just be low on oil. Best see if it can be topped up if this is the case. But yes autogearbox specialist is best way forward unless a local garage can top up oil. I would phone round though rather than drive lots. Keep the miles down .
  25. Being very proud to be British this kinda gets my back up. Especially as the world together talks BHP, especially on the aftermarket and performance tuning circles!! Even the Americans take BHP. And car dealers still sell in BHP! I believe the first measurements engine wise was just horse power HP equivalence but this evolved to BHP Brake-horsepower or scientifically as 'mechanical horsepower' (pinch yourself if you are falling to sleep 😴) PS stands for the German word 'pferdestärke' or 'horse strength' but is a metric scale. BHP is approx 98.6% of this so 1PS = 0.986BHP. (We obviously breed better stronger horses in the 🇬🇧 lol). The car market widely interchanges these figure. In the world of VAG the 2.0 TDI engine was most commonly designated 140PS and 170PS but referred to as 140 and 170BHP (Are you still awake?!?) The easy way to convert this is to drop 1 BHP for every 70PS, so a 140PS car is basically 138BHP! This is an approximation that is easily used. Now, Kw or Kilowatt, introduced in the early 90's was an EU thing. It didn't catch on for about 10 years but even today while quoted in all brochures etc BHP is still the figures preferred. Now that we are seeing more hybrid technology etc it's becoming more popular. Again using the 140PS or 138BHP engine, times the PS value by 0.7457 which gives approx 104.5 Kw. Though to simplify things (stop yawning!!) Times the Kw value by 1.32 to give BHP and 1.34 to give PS. And just drop 1BHP for every 70PS. E.g. 104.5Kw engine is (104.5 * 1.34)= 140PS (-2)= 138BHP. My car is a 180ps which basically is 177BHP Or a 134.3Kw engine. Clear as mud. I need a drink!!
