  1. In need of some advice, currentlt running standard valves was wondering what people would recommend? Was thinking 2.5 valves but don't know if they fit
  2. I'm after a proper induction kit for the 3.0 TDI quattro, either a full kit by a performance manufacturer or if someone has done a homemade job with some silicone pipe, filter and jubilee clips etc, I'd love to hear from you and how you did it. Or if you found that one for the 3.0, 3.2 or 4.2 petrols worked just as well. A search online has revealed nothing for me sadly, no support for the diesels, only some petrols. I know diesels don't rely on air as much as the petrols, maybe this is why I'm struggling to find one that fits. If nothing comes of this and no one can help, I'm tempted to have a go at making one myself and will post some 'how to' pics below. Thanks in advance! Josh
  3. Hi Guys, First of all, I'm new here and completely blue to audi's, so go easy on me. I just have a few questions before finalising my decision on a purchase of an Audi A3 or A4. Coming from the golf, I knew everything about the cars, which engines to go for, what to look out for when purchasing and how much roughly a clean model is really worth. However being completely new to Audi's, always wanting one and being in a position to purchase one, I am looking to get some questions answered. I have looked through this forum, looked for buyers guides or pointers and couldnt find anything to answer my questions. So, first of all, how much are these cars really worth? I know this is subjective, however lets say a clean example, with fsh and not a crap ton of miles, how much am I looking to pay? I have a budget from 3,5 to 5,5k, and I am looking for a clean example, preferably 06 onward however an 08 would be the perfect spot. I'd like a diesel, fuel economy is important for me. I have already read into this whole 1.9 vs 2.0 tdi's and whats wrong with the 2.0 and how its not as reliable, however after gathering all that information i am still leaning towards the 2.0 tdi 140. What should I be looking for? What big parts need replacing after certain miles? I heard the turbo needs replacing around 150k miles, so I thought to look either for a low mileage example or one that already has the big jobs done. Any problematic parts on these cars that like to go, certain sound I should be looking for? I'd like to finally buy a car that will drive me for the next few years without headaches and constant worry and taking it to the garage all the time. Difference between the 8P and the B7? I like the size of the A4 B7, and i always loved something about an estate, avant in terms of audi talk (still confusing). It might seem like a family car but I love it haha, is there certain engine codes i should avoid or look to buy? I understand that the A4 and A3 is very similar platform running the same engines? I just have all these questions in my mind, hopefully this is in the right place and im not causing chaos. Thanks in Advance, Mac. :)
  4. Hello everyone. I am looking to buy an a4 b8 2.0t (WAUZZZ8K) I'm just checking to see if this model suffers from the balancer shaft issues like the previous model did. Thanks guys.
  5. Hello,Im new to Audi's and this forum, but on Sunday traded the astra diesel 1.7 05 estate in for a Audi a4 avant 05 2.0 fsi quattro. Vey happy with the car, its silver 77k mileage £5k. The drive is so good, takes the bumps the best I have experienced, nice amount of power, never had 6th gear before. Handles the road like its on rails.Only downside to my purchase is rear window washer not working, heated seats not working, heater isn't warm for a while inside car. Some scuffs to the rear interior boot area. But taking car back to get all things looked at bar the scuffs. My first purchase is premium rubber floor mats from catmats4u, also wanted to ask ppl what oil does the engine take? Also wanted to ask about getting engine chipped and ppl's experience on that for the 2.0 turbo B7's. Does it effect mpg? Is there a choice of either more power or more mpg? What is your experience with the cost to insurance? Many thanks.
  6. Hey people I'm new to joining any fan club and now I have a Audi A3 I thought I ups join! I have a Audi A3 sportback 2014 s line :)
  7. What lowering springs do people recommend for for an Audi A3 FSI 8P ( 55 plate ) ? Cheers,
  8. Hello, New to the forum and new to Audi :) So I've had my A3 which is my first car for just over a year and now I'm looking to improve it. My A3 isn't the Bose version so the first thing I would like to do is completely replace the sound system. I have been looking at the Sony XAV-AX100 as a potential new head unit but apart from what I like I know nothing about the parts that I will need. My initial budget is around £900 but I could be convinced to up that if it'll be worth it. I had been looking at Sony speakers simply so that everything would match but I don't have a clue if they will be good. I also would like to avoid a massive sub woofer in the boot if possible. I prefer quality audio (Not a bass head) so if there is one hidden somewhere in the car that i can replace then great but I'm thinking the most likely thing for me is a sub under the passenger seat. I don't have much of a clue so any help is greatly appreciated :D Many Thanks, Tom
  9. My final verdict on this Audi A4 2.0 tfsi 187bhp 2016 hire car vs my 07 2.0 tfsi Manuel quattro 22bhp. I love the keyless entry n dashboard tech but..... as a drivers vehicle my old car much better 😅 this cars auto box is noticeable between gear changes which off putting especially when flooring it, the breaks not as good as mines don't feel direct and a bit of a delay (not sure if prev people's ragging it). Bang & Olufsen's loudspeakers are weird they are super loud but at full power the treble tweeters struggle making that funny buzz noise my car never does that or rarely (with the Bose. My cars faster (by 2 secs) and the awd Quattro grip is night n day to front wheel drive car/this 2016 car 3-5 rating mostly for the tech prefer mines and that's not even bias.

  11. Here's my observations about my car I use as a daily driver to work. (bought august 2015 still learning about the car as have owned less then two years with various repairs done re engine namely bottom part of engine replaced due to oil chain pump failure) so not had a clear run yet: Around three months ago I gave my car to Audi chingford for a full service after getting it back shortly after (maybe four weeks) the oil light came on to my shock. I panicked as when I checked indeed it was on minimum oil level. I thought I mite have a leak. On further internet research I saw certain audis have an excessive oil usage problem. I contacted Audi uk (who later confirmed mines was not one of the known problem vehicles). I arranged to bring car back to Audi chingford who confirmed it was low and suggested due to new engine parts was probably the cause. They topped it up for me. I spoke to Audi uk who told me my car was within acceptable oil usage parimaters basically he said it was normal to top up every couple of months. Which baffled me a bit as my previous vihicle was a vw 1.8 turbo petrol owned eight years and I did one oil change a year but only drove on weekends for pleasure As of month 1st December 2016 the oil light came on. So I've worked out from what audis has said this will be the norm for my car. I've done 2345 miles or three months since last oil fill up. Conclusion this is what I'm to expect as the norm for this car. I don't know how I feel about that but at least I know where I stand now. (FYI I topped up with castrol edge 5w-30) I found this online: 'note that the Audi specification for the 2.0 engines allows for a litre of oil to be used every 1242 miles, and they will not consider this level of usage to be a fault. This is written in the manual if you look in the section on oil. However, many 2.0 TFSI owners routinely get only around 500-600 miles, which is definitely out of spec.' and I found this article below;https://www.audi.co.uk/about-audi/latest-news/audi-uk-bbc-watchdog-oil-consumption-june-2015.htmlAudi UK / BBC Watchdog / Oil Consumption – June 2015Jun 4, 2015Audi UK is committed to investigating and swiftly resolving any technical issues relating to our cars which are reported to us through our network. As we have stated previously, a low percentage of older 2.0 TFSI engines fitted to certain models have been exceeding the factory oil consumption tolerance of 0.5 litres per 1,000 kilometres (approx. 620 miles). Changes were made to the production tolerances of the pistons and rings in this engine from mid-2011 onwards, and customers with 2.0 TFSI cars produced after this date should not have any cause for concern. The comprehensive Audi UK Warranty (3 years/60,000 miles) covering all new Audi vehicles has already resolved the majority of these cases at no cost to the customer. For remaining affected customers with cars that are no longer covered by this warranty, we have a policy in place to resolve issues on a case-by-case basis. This revised policy has been in force nationally since the beginning of the year and applies to new and retrospective cases. Qualification criteria are applied in each individual case to confirm that the vehicle has been serviced in accordance with the owner’s handbook by an Audi Centre or other professional workshop which follows the Audi Service quality standards. We invite all Audi customers who have any questions or concerns relating to newly discovered or previously reported oil consumption with 2.0 TFSI engines to contact their local Audi Centre. Alternatively, our advisors will be available until 10pm on Thursday 4 June, and thereafter from 8am to 8pm, by calling 0800 0930110<tel:0800%20093%200110>free of charge from landlines*.

  14. Hello! Just joined up on the forum after reading several interesting threads. I have two Audi A4 (B6) Avant 1.9Tdi, one is 02 plate and the other is a 04 plate Quattro, I absolutely love these cars not only are they reliable and capable of everything that you throw at them they are comfortable and a pleasure to drive. I currently use the 02 plate for our work where we restore classic Mini's, its our 'works' tractor and pulls mini's on the trailer with ease. Its on an amazing 204300 miles at the moment and recently survived a side swipe on the motorway from a foreign lorry that hadn't seen me in his blind spot. Its now a CAT D but its back on the road still with the body damage but perfectly safe and legal. I bought the 04 plate with the insurance payout but so far it has only been used for family needs. Its in remarkable condition and it is now up to a good 177000 miles and running well. Having said that both have some issues which I am hoping to find out some information about on here :-)
  15. Hi all I'm Bradley, proud owner of a Audi A4 B5 (2000,1.9 TDi, 115BHP) for about 3 almost 4 years now. Lurked for a while now, glad to be here :)
  16. In case someone else is struggling with removing the A5 tail light. It's a pain in the a**
  17. 2016 December a bit angry. I saw saw on the news recently the government increased all insurence company's rates in my case subject my interest is car. I've received an intial email quote form confused.com of £1073 that's almost a £300 increase on last year (my circumstances have not changed) abosulute rip off. This is just another cynical stealth tax on the motorists as if we do not pay enough. I will eventually start looking for quotes myself to see if I can get a better deal. (I'm over 25, no points, no incidents, have maximum no Cliams, reside London, Audi 2 litre tfsi Quattro, everything perfect) Rant over. Recievied

First one was a 2005 A6 3.0TDI SE Manual and now i currently have a 2006 3.0TDI S Line LeMans Auto. The gearbox in the manual was shockingly bad so went for a auto. So far on the LeMans I have had a remap, 4 new Uniroyal Rainsport 3's and they are so sticky it's amazing. Changed the whole character of the car. Took it round the Nurburgring so put a sticker on the back ;) I've just ordered a RS6 Style honeycomb grill but without the RS6 badge. Windows are Tinted and I want to get the lights smoked too. I have also ordered a big Quattro badge for the bottom of the grill. It's all debadged from new except the two main Audi badges. I'm after a Milltek exhaust and anything else to get some more power gains . . . If you have any ideas please tell me
  19. Hi Re Audi A4 B7. Anyone know a excellent mecanic. To change front main light? I found out yesterday front bumper has to come off to change crappy passenger main light. I've bought the ds1 bulb already. Just need someone to fit it. I've been quoted a silly £65 already that's too much. I live london but but can drive out to get this done at a reasonable price. Basically every time time I turn light on the car beeps left main beam fault but what's weird some times lights on sometimes off but car still beeps regards warning me left main beam why is that? My drivers main light went 1 month ago to which I changed I can't remember if it did the same thing.

  22. Hi I just joined here own an Audi A4 2 litre tfsi two in total ever. My 1st was a year 2005 2 litre tfsi 200bhp A4 current year 2007 same vehicle but the 220bhp Quattro special edition version. I have had had many battles due to the above some with Audi to the point I started legal proceedings against them to get help. in the end of buying both cars I lost £7000 as a totality which I'm still feeling today my experience with Audi uk was not great. Currently my car gets looked after by Audi chingford who did all the engine repairs for oil chain pump.
  23. Shocking customer service from Audi Main Dealer, that you would expect from a back street garage. I brought a Audi A5 TFSI from my friend, he advised me that the car was perfect. Except for a warning light that had come on stating oil pressure low. He then promptly took the car to Audi Vindis main dealer and had it check. He told them my oil lights on and that the car is using a lot of oil. They advised him that it was just a sensor, and that there was a slight oil leak that would need further investigation. But other than that the car is fine. I then brought the car three months down the line, theres black smoke coming from the exhaust. I then send the Car back to Audi Vindis to have it checked, i rang Audi they advised me it would take 48 hours to let me know what the problem is. It took them 9 days to get back to me with the problem. Had i known it was going to take 9 days to find out what was wrong. I would have opted for a courtesy car service they offer. After calling Audi Vindis 5 times in those 9 days, i didn't get thru to my service advisor at all. He was constantly busy or out on lunch and didn't return calls. I was told he would call me back but he never did. I then got a call on the 10th day, my service advisor advised me that my car needed a new turbo and catalytic convertor costing £2600. I then stated i have spoken to a friend who works for Audi. And they have advised me that my car might have a oil consumption problem, and that it should be looked at to see if mine is faulty. They have since done a test, and it has come back that my car is using to much oil. But i would need to drive 600 miles for further testing procedures. Clearly my cars in no fit state to move so I'm outer luck with the oil consumption side of the problem. My arguement is that the oil problem could of been what caused the car to break down in the first. given the fact that my friend had a oil related problem before why wasn't he made aware of the recall fault. They clearly didn't want to mention to my friend at the time that these cars do have a manufacturer problems. Now that my first issue. My second issue is, whilst in Audi Vindis my car was cleaned by a valeter. He left the handbrake off my car and it smashed into another car. I have seen the damage and advised Audi Vindis that because my car has been wrapped, all the wrap will need to be removed from the car to fix the wing and bumper. It is near impossible to match the exact white wrap for my car without knowing who the manufacturer is of the particular wrap. It is also going to cost around £600 to have it all removed and cleaned, and £2000 to have it replaced so that all the colours match equally. Audi Vindis have taken no responsibility for the fact, my car was left in there care. And subsequently damaged whilst in there care, they are merely trying to fob me off to the Valeting companys insurance. And saying too me you guys sort the issue out with your insurances. My argument with Audi Vindis is that my car was left with Audi Vindis and i was not doing business with this valeting company. So i merely stated could i have Audi Vindis insurance details please, so i can get my insurance company to contact yours. They refused and told are you prepared to be messed about, because its not are fault the valeters damaged your car. Now i have it on video the service manager refusing to give me there insurance details, after my car had been damaged in there possession. Which is against the law when an accidental has occurred the refusal to give documentation is a criminal act. They have since contacted me and said that they have some offers on the table. The £2600 still stands for the repair on the mechanical side, but the valeting company is willing to do 3 things. Firstly offer me £500 and he would get a dent devil guy to pull the dents out, 2nd £700 and thats the end of it no come backs, or i can go thru his insurance. Now they must not have listened to me when i told them, i went to a Car Wrapping Specialist and he has said the whole car will need to be re wrapped, unless i wish to see the difference. Now I'm facing owning a car thats been damaged before which i don't want. Or a car that has mix match wrapping, and if a trained eye looked at carefully will notice its had a knock. Do i even won't this car after its been damage. When i advised the customer service manager that all i want today is a courtesy car, so i can pick my kids up and have a think about my options. I was told no we need to know what you want to do. She was rude too me and my partner and refused to give me there insurance details. I then spoke to another manager who heard me out and agreed with me slightly. Then he went away listened to his colleague, and later pushed a bit of paper on the table saying theres the valeting company insurance details. I then stated that i would like Audi Vindis Insurance details he advised me that its a waste of time but went away and got them. At this point a senior manager came out, and made me feel like she had everything under control. And made me feel at ease and said this is not how we operate or do business. Only to call me back a few hours later, with the offer that i just mentioned which quite frankly is poor customer service. From a company with such a prestigious reputation. As it stands i have no courtesy car, i have no insurance details, i have only been offered the valeting company details which were then taken back from me. I am going to seek some legal advice, and take this matter further seeking compensation for the cars I'm having to rent, the devaluing of my car because of the accident. And their complete incompetence in handling this situation. I will also be going to the Retail Ombudsman for the Oil Recall that for should of been tested. And possibly the criminal justice system for Audi Vindis refusal to give me their insurance details when asked. After a car in their possession had been damaged and they are taking no responsibility. It even states on the invoice please don't Valet the car is been wrapped. Negligent! Your Sincerely Disgruntled Customer
  24. I have a 2003 Audi A3 2.0TDI which has just been diagnosed as having a cracked piston head I have been told that to purchase a brand new part it will cost around £1000 for the part and then there's the labour to add on top. I have also been told from a different mechanic that I might be as well to purchase another engine and get that fitted instead of replacing the part itself. What would you guys suggest I do? Another question I have got is would I have to get the exact same 140bhp engine as the one that is has now? I have seen on eBay a few 2.0TDI A3 engines that are producing around 180bhp standard, obviously my car only has a 140bhp turbo (this is a fairly new turbo, only been fitted around 2 months) so would this not work? I am aware that I can pull this engine out of SEAT's and VW's etc so another option I have would be to purchase a spares and repairs car that has the engine I need which runs fine but has been smashed up at the back and take that engine? I really don't want and don't have the cash to buy another car so would like to be able to get this one back on the road as cheaply as possible whilst at the same time not cutting any corners... Any help and recommendations would be appreciated!
