  1. Hi all, I have an A3 8P 1.6 TDI 2010. I am hearing 2 sounds from the car and I do not know whether they are normal or whether something is wrong. No warning lights have come up on the dash and as far as I can tell, there is no loss of power. I have only recently gotten into cars so your thoughts and advice would be much appreciated! Sound Under the Bonnet There is a sound under the bonnet when the car is idling. Here is a link to a video of the car when idling: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_sKT7rQp9FdsMdGPaHqQMRCyQ82NQGuo/view?usp=drive_link And when the car is being revved: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1q_FSVZm4kz-Pgl536Pj6Ky2OH-nMoLrA/view?usp=drive_link It's a faint sound that can be heard in the background of the loud engine noise and fluctuates in pitch, it sort of sounds like a straight metal sheet being bent back and forth (not sure how else to describe it!). Sound When Accelerating There is a sound on the driver's side when accelerating, especially in the 1K-2K RPM range (above 2K the engine noise drowns out the sound but it is there). Here is a video of me accelerating the car (taken from passenger side so the sound may not be particularly clear): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MvTShvO7nukB-CajJ1aTcoN1OB9cmfPW/view?usp=drive_link The sound is similar to the one in this Youtube video but is more "airy" for lack of a better word: Once again, your advice would be much appreciated!
  2. I have not long since got myself an audi a3. 2.0 tdi sport. Can anyone confirm, if my relative throttle is 0.0 when driving and the other reading is 85%, does that mean my throttle sensor as had it? Just for added info. I currently have the p2015 error code and an exhaust temperature fault. The exhaust freeze frame reads when rpm, I guess that sensor is done too. Also underboosting, suspect either one of these or the vanes, but starting with the easy options. Thank you, sorry for the long post and slightly jumbles post. Freeze frame read out below. Freeze frame DTC = P0544 Engine load - calculated value = 0% Engine coolant temperature = 63°C Intake manifold absolute pressure = 100kPa Engine speed = 0rpm Vehicle speed = 0km/h Intake air temperature = 46°C Mass air flow = 0.8g/s Throttle - absolute position = 90.98% Fuel rail pressure = 100kPa Ps, I still like the car haha
  3. Hello everyone. Would anyone be able to tell me the colour code for this please? The sticker in the boot had completely had it so i have no way of finding out. I'd be so greatful if someone can help. Thank you
  4. Evening people, So about 2 weeks ago my engine light and EPC light came on. Engine light began to flash and the car ran rough and juddered with little power as I pulled over to a stop. Lots of exhaust fumes came out smelling like petrol/oil but not sure. HOWEVER, today I got the car back (recovered) and it’s running just fine, drove it in a small circle etc. with none of the previous lights/issues. What could be wrong? I don’t want to part with my beauty! AA said maybe my fuel pressure sensors have gone and that my oil was overfilled upon inspection. They had the following error codes; Engine control 1 - A0F / Motronic MED 17 Status :P164E - Oil pressure control valve 1. Error Message : Electrical fault. Error static. Status :P2015 - Intake manifold flap position sensor. Error Message : Signal improbable. Error sporadic. Status :P0304 - Combustion failure cylinder 4 detected. Error Message : . Error sporadic. Status :P119A - Fuel-pressure sensor. Error Message : Faulty operation. Error static. Status :P0301 - Combustion failure cylinder 1 detected. Error Message : . Error static. Status :P130A - Cylinder shutoff. Error Message : . Error sporadic. We have arranged for a recovery of your vehicle.Engine Oil Overfilled Any help would be appropriated. I’ve attached videos of the engine when it went dodgey and the dashboard lighting up like a Christmas tree. Cheers, Euge IMG_9124.MOV IMG_9125.MOV
  5. Engine coolant level warning light came on 4 weeks ago. The level dropped way below the minimum line. Topped it up with generic coolant from petrol station as that was the nearest garage. It’s now back to minimum 4 weeks later. And see video of hoses shaking vigorously at idle. Any suggestions on what could cause this would be appreciated. IMG_9361.MOV
  6. Hello so I've noticed squiking noise coming from the belts area in my 2008 A3 sportback. When engine heats up it gets better but still stays there. on load it disappears. Any input what could it be?.
  7. Hi All, Has anyone had the following fault code before? 18112/P1704 (Relates to kickdown switch) Any further advise/experience to repair the fault would be appreciated. Car drives great as normal, however engine management light is on. A4 B9 3.0 V6 TDI Quattro (Auto)
  8. Hey guys I just bought an Audi A4 Avant 1.8TFSI S line this Monday😁 I have a few problems and just wanted some advice from you guys so hopefully I can get some help if you don’t mind! When going onto Engine Oil Level the screen displays that the information isn’t available has anyone had this problem before I assume it maybe and oil sensor problem but I am uncertain? My Xenon headlight o/s says dipped headlight isn’t working and sometimes the light just appears on is this a loose connection and is there a link on fixing this? Lastly, when the engine is started it seems to move a lot that you can feel it stutter type thing in the cabin once it warms up it seems to go away? Any ideas on this?? Any advice would be great sorry for the questions Many thanks, Ryan C
  9. Hi all. My Audi A3 1.6 petrol engine has been hunting (over-revving when idling) for a few years now. Last year it was an issue in the MOT as the mechanics found it hard to get it to idle at low enough revs to pass the emissions test. The garage have looked into it and have suggested it could be an oxygen sensor fault. This is speculative though, so for now I haven't asked them to fit a new one (£180ish for the part before labour). Has anyone had a similar problem with a hunting engine that they've managed to fix? Thanks.
  10. Hi there, Im new member here. I own an A8 3.0 Tdi 2006 year and i would like to have some help to understand better my engine. Its a V6 engine so i need to know if i need to change every X miles the ignition coils and if the model has fitted DPF. Since recently the car starts to smoke ( dark grey/blackish) and is been done a service just 20 miles ago but still smoke when the car get hot. Is anyone can recommend me what to do and how can fix the issue. Regards FRANK
  11. Hi there, first time posting here. I have a 2011 Audi A5 2.0 TFSI with 85k A bit of backstory.. My cars timing belt went while driving and was replaced in January. This was caused by the timing belt tensener becoming slack. After that my car has been struggling to keep constant revs when cold and ended up misfiring on a long drive. I managed to limp it to my garage where they changed the O2 sensor. The car seemed fine untill about a month ago when a wired metallic rattle started when letting off the gas. Sounds a bit like a clockwork spring being released. At first I could only hear it after turning the engine off but has now got louder. Sounds like it is coming from the left side of the engine. My car has started misfiring again and is currently undrivable as one of the cylinders isn't working. It also has a fault code saying the engine is running to rich at idle. This has gone after both repairs but returns after a few weeks. I had a fault code last year saying the car was running to lean but went after a week so haven't been to worried about that. I hardly drive my car. Probably around 1000 miles this year. Could anyone provide a bit of help. Just want to sell it now but need to get it working first
  12. Hi all, This is only my second post very new to this forum so hey all! Just wanted to find some guidance on a problem I have recently had come up and I don't know where to go with it. Car is Audi A5 Cabriolet 2012 1.8 tfsi milage 54,855. The code is P0068 (have attached photo stating the codes details). Basically it doesnt point my in any direction of it it's the MAP sensor or the MAF sensor. And if it did where are they? Might sound dumb but I'm no techy by any standard but was just hoping to find some guidance and this one. The photo I've attached is my engine and he area I believe the MAF sensor would be but after doing some research online I seem to not be able to see a MAF sensor?. Anyone please! Help 🤣😂🤣 Ash
  13. Hi all, My girlfriend's got an 03 Audi TT. It seems to run at > 90C when in normal operation and we've noticed recently that it'll occasionally dip into the red before dropping back to where it sits in the image. In any other car I've driven the temp would sit in the middle, in this case 90C, but her Audi always seems to sit on the mark between 90 & the red. Does this need checking out or is this normal? I'm also not sure how worried to be about it dipping into the red, the coolant levels seem fine. Thanks. IMG_6549.HEIC
  14. Hi everyone, I’m new to the forum so bear with me! I have this issue with my A4 (B7) 2.0t cabriolet. In normal driving conditions when warm or cold the engine seems to run fine. No knocking, loss of power, strange noises or vibrations. It seems to be running as it always has. However, when I try to get the engine to run at very high load (ie greater than 90-95% load) such as accelerating in 5th or 6th gear up a hill, the engine light flashes, there is some juddering from the engine bay and zero increase in power output. Power levels don’t seem to drop, they just don’t increase. The check engine light flashes then sometimes goes out and sometimes stays on. If I stop asking for power then the car goes back to normal. Interestingly this doesn’t happen at all in gears 1-3 and only in 4th if I plant my right foot going up hill. Ive got an OBDII reader (which I’m aware isn’t as comprehensive as VAGCOM) that gives me some basic info and lets me reset the codes. I get code P0301 - Cylinder 1 misfire detected. Throttle position 88.24% MAF air flow rate: 103.38 grams/sec Timing Advance: 8.0 deg Speed: 98kph Long term fuel % trim-Bank 1: 1.56% Engine rpm: 3173 Intake air temp: 19.0 deg C Short term fuel % trim Bank 1: 15.62% Engine coolant temp: 93.0 deg C Runtime: 00:05:38 Engine Load: 100% Fuel system status: 2) Closed loop: Using O2 sensor for fuel mix. Ive done a fair bit of googling and most of the others with the same error code had the misfire occurring at all or most of the time, not just when under heavy load. I’ve swapped the coil packs and spark plugs between cylinder 1 and 4 with no change (makes me think they’re both fine) Although I haven’t swapped for new ones yet. Any thoughts? Wondering if there’s a bit of carbon deposit partially occluding the fuel injector for cyl 1? Although I’d have thought that would cause problems at lower loads as well. For what little it’s worth I popped a bottle of Redex in with a full tank of 98-99 RON BP petrol. So far used half that tank with no change. Doesn’t seem to be getting worse at least. Thanks for the help! Matt
  15. Hi guys, I'm thinking of swapping my standard (non-turbo'd) 1.6 A3 engine and dropping a 2.0 TDI into it. Before I do, wanted to check if the chassis could handle the new weight and power? Cheers
  16. Hi all, I have an Audi A3, 2015, S-Line, 2.0 TDI, Diesel and I have recently heard a faint grinding or crunching noise coming from the engine area, like a 'Skrrr Skrrr' noise when the engine is stationary. I have taken it to Audi several times and they are unable to rectify the fault. I am concerned that it could lead to something major and cost me a pretty penny in the future. I have attached a video for the sound to be heard hopefully over the loud diesel engine. If anyone would be kind enough to identify the noise or fault, it would be highly appreciated. IMG_2649.MP4
  17. Hi all I’ve finally gotten around to making a petition for my grievances against Audi UK please share and sign. I don’t want myself and others to suffer in silence. Can you help me out by signing this petition? http://chn.ge/2oLsxwk
  18. Ok, the A7 went if for its first MOT. It failed! Two tyres Dunlop sportsmaxx- one tyre bulge on inside and other split - both front tyres BTW. Oh and my number plate was 2 mm out with the spacing. :( One of the gearbox ECU’s failed the one that operates the auto handbrake malfunctioned ( you can guess the cost for that) lucky its in warranty Audi Garage carrying out MOT spotted oil leaking from between the Engine and Gearbox - said it would need to go back to the Audi garage I bought it from. So What Is Leaking then? Long story short and a week later back to the other Audi Garage. They had it for over a week as i refused to accept the car back unless it was resolved and fixed adequately, in fairness they agreed and carried out the required work. Said they couldnt find any oil leak, mmm, but said they wiped the understray and around the engine but could find any oil - WTF. They did identify the following and this follows in line with a stories i heard a while ago with older models when major engine damage was the outcome. 1st - They noticed the Adblue seals were leaking - so they changed those....TICK! 2nd. They also noticed the seals (4)around the injectors were leaking diesel....TICK This may sound pretty standard the way it was reported to me over the phone. They say they carried out a 200 mile test drive and couldnt see any oil leaking. So i have had the car back, on the basis that I drive it for another 600 miles before returning it for its next service.

  22. Hi all, New audi owner but having a bad experience. 2 weeks into ownership and the oil pressure light came on. Mechanic said leak in the crank seal and broken chain guides so advised to replace waterpump aswell and a few other bits. Turns out the cylinder head is knackerd too. Car has been in the garage for almost 2 months now. 😢 So i am now on the lookout for a cylinder head or even a whole engine. If any one can help or point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Thanks Nayan
  23. Hi Anyone with knowledge would be helpful. Last 31/08/17 2.0 tfsi engine running super rough vibrating heavily, then I saw black liquid splattering out both exhausts then engine management light came on. A week or more ago my oil light came up for several days staying on while driving. Now I belived my oil reserve when oil light on is 1 litre? And (been told today capacity is 4.2 litres). So I topped up exactly 3 litres. Today I gave car to mecanic to keep his 1st impression is I have over filled oil when he checked dip stick checked on his computer fault RANDOM CYCLINDER MISSFIRE. My question is why an earth and how could this all happen? Im goona assume mecanic will drain oil. As a side note he found a coolient hose near/next to/or on thermostat that's leaking coolient.
  24. Dear motoring world and all those concerned, my Audi problems. December 2014 I purchased car 1 privately a 2005 Audi A4 B7 2.0T s line tfsi on 92k miles, full Audi service history. I paid a reputable mechanic I’d used for eight years to change water pump, timing belt change and a full service. On date 6/5/15 car 1 while stuck in slow moving traffic in south London the car engine failed randomly with no warning on Mileage 95k, vehicle towed to mechanic. Mechanic informed me reason for failure Audi part known to commonly fail on my vehicle called the OIL CHAIN PUMP had failed resulting major total engine failure. 27/05/15 Contacted Audi uk customer service to invite Audi Bromley to view the vehicle located at mechanic’s. I was told someone would come. 28/05/15 Audi master technician (from Audi Bromley branch) viewed my vehicle at mechanics. No written report done by Audi, but confirmed verbally to Audi Bromley service manager Richard Balcomb the OIL CHAIN PUMP FAILURE. 01/06/15 Cased assigned to Audi uk case manager. 01/06/15 Audi case manager Ben O informed me repair may cost £4500. 08/06/15 Via phone spoke to Audi business manager Mathew Well’s. I explained the situation to him, which I was informed he would get back to me via email which he never did. 09/06/15 Audi case manager Ben O closed my case, stating “Audi legal department said, Audi cannot prove when oil chain pump failed, if the vehicle continued to be driven whilst warning light on, so cannot support cost of repair, we cannot apply good will discount because vehicle not bought from Audi” he also mentioned the repair would be uneconomical due to costing more then the vehicle £7000-£8000 new replacement engine cost. I asked for a contact address to use for a small claims court and was given ‘Audi auk, Brunswick court, Yeomes Drive, Blakelands, Milton Keyes, MK14 5LR. As a result I had to scrap the vehicle at a great loss to myself. Audi treated me poorly leaving me very upset. Moving onto 2015 Thinking car 1 was a one off. I did truly desire this specific vehicle model Audi A4 B7. I did my research re oil chain pump design changed in 2007 + and purchased car 2 also bought privately a 2007 Audi A4 B7 2.0T s line tfsi on 88k miles, full Audi service history. On mileage 94k guess what happened? While driving at around ten mph around the corner from my house. On date 30/03/16 I had another major engine failure re OIL CHAIN PUMP to my shock horror. I debated heavily with Audi uk for the car to be fixed by them for free but they refused and instead offered me an Audi executive £250 Audi voucher I was livid and furious. I could not even reply back as I was speechless given what had happened to car 1 and car 2 both suffering the same issue. This time I could not afford to scrap another Audi vehicle. I paid Audi Chingford around £2880 (with good will discount applied apparently) that cost hit me hard I literally had to take out a loan to pay for the repair as I could not afford to pay it (I am still in debt today due to the loan). I was a mess I paid it and decided enough was enough if Audi was not going to help me re OIL CHAIN PUMP failure id take them to court. On my extensive research I found that Audi did in fact know of this issue, also on many online forums this issued had happened to many other Audi owners. To my surprise no uk lawyer or uk group has sued Audi uk over this fault in their engines. I started court proceedings against Audi uk re the above. I requested from Audi uk Solicitors; 04/07/16 I request the following that re my case against Audi uk/vw that they have all knowledge of as I will need this information from Audi. All stats/information to include engines failures for Audi/vw 2.0 TFSI specifically years 2005 to 2007 reported up to present date of year 2016 to Audi preferably in hard copy paper form sent to my address; 1.Statistics for engine failures for all Audi uk/vw vehicles using 2.0 TFSI dated between 2005 to 2007. 2.Statistics for engine failures for all Audi uk/vw vehicles using 2.0 TFSI dated between 2005 to 2007 reference, oil chain pump failures. Including engine failures related and/or parts connected to oil chain pump such as a part called the follower that sits on top of chain on oil chain pump for example. 3.A break down of engine failures ofAudi uk/vw vehicles using 2.0 TFSI dated between 2005 to 2007 inside warranty period and outside that period. 4.Can I request what compensations were offered to owners engine failures of Audi uk/vw vehicles using 2.0 TFSI dated between 2005 to 2007. 5. Request a full report of why 2005 to 2007 Audi/vw 2.0 TFSI engines fail reference oil chain pump/related parts near to oil chain pump. Which they did not supply to me. I only got a small insignificant amount from them that in no way covered the thousands of pounds I lost ref the two Audi vehicles. 20/07/16 Eventually Audi uk lawyers settling out of court with me offering a small token amount towards the thousands I’d spent fixing car 2. I emailed all the Audi/vw directors I could find about my story and not one of them had the fortitude to email or contact me back. Moving onto 2016 Unfortunately the drama does not end. Car 2 had several oil warning lights go off. March 2016: full service Audi Chingford (no engine issues reported). APRIL 2016: Oil chain pump failure, resulting in engine rebuild at Audi garage (around 94000k). 23rd July 2016: check engine oil light on (97228k) 16th August 2016: Engine oil pressure too low warning light (97826k). 3rd December 2016: check engine oil light on (100187k). I complained and eventually brought car 2 back to Audi Chingford, they had the vehicle for several days for for me to be told ‘there’s nothing wrong with the vehicle and they cannot find anything wrong’ I was very surprised but I took their word for it, until I got one or more engine oil warning lights. I got straight on the phone to Audi uk where I was eventually told the oil usage for my vehicle was normal and I should expect to re oil my vehicle around every three months. I was confused as before the Oil chain pump failure it ran way more the three months with no oil warning lights. So I needed a second opinion. Moving on to 2017 I elected to find a next Audi. I found a service center called Audi Harold wood. I requested from them a service, front disc brakes change and most importantly to find the source of my engine oil warning lights. They came back to me confirming what I’d known all along, there was something physically wrong with it. With engine oil saturating the sump, but at that time they could not pin point exactly where the issue was. I was asked to drive the vehicle at least four-hundred miles then bring it back for further investigation. At this point I was impressed that they had confirmed a fault. I booked the vehicle in for March 2017. I received a call from a manager called John, John informed me or words to effect ‘They think the leak is around the OIL COOLER (I think he said), he said if Audi Chingford did not touch/move/replace it at all you would have to pay for the repair. He will find out from his master technician to give me a result. 20/03/17 I emailed all the Audi and Vw directors I could find again this time. I wanted to share my pain, frustration, feedback and unhappiness with Audi management etc….., re two different Audi A4 2.0T TFSI vehicles. 21/03/17 I received an email back from a Audi customer service rep informing me Cian O’Brien, Director of Audi UK has started an investigation re my issues. The end 22/03/17 Informed by Audi Harold Wood Manager, Rocker cover gasket £256, oil cooler £256, £87 labour and looking at another part mite need replacing possibly oil cooler hose, best will give me is 10% discount good will. I am majorly annoyed that coincidentally the oil chain pump fails Then soon after oil lights, oil leaks and then oil related parts are found to need replacing, madness! Yet more money to spent even for a now around ten year old vehicle it’s outrageous. 23/03/17 I spoke with an Audi uk customer service person Nicola B, who informed me after she looked at the history of my issues no help will be offered to me by Audi uk, suggesting I part exchange the vehicle. 27/03/17 I sent my experience to the government department VOSA re my, safety concerns for myself and other current Audi A4 TFSI owners. Evidenced by numerous internet forums where other Audi TFSI owners also suffered oil chain pump failure/failure cam follower on oil chain pump. I feel as a matter of a major safety concern re both vehicles if they failed while I was driving the vehicle(s). If they had failed at speed. I or other(s) could have suffered a fatality, inside vehicle re collision or other or outside vehicle(s) re a collision or other. I feel due to all……. the above car 1-2 the repair should be done for free or super good will discount with Audi footing the bill. Conclusion From my short three years experience with the Audi brand, Audi uk and Audi vehicles it’s been a financially painful journey (re car 1+2 spent close to £20,000 in totality), very stressful, probably putting me off ever owning an Audi vehicle. Even though I love the look of some of their vehicles. I felt let down by the vehicles for breaking not once but twice, Audi uk making me a £250 voucher offer to cover thousands of pounds of repairs and their generally poor handling of a situation that I’m unfortunately not the first person this has happened to. I suggest to anyone thinking of purchasing a Audi 2.0 Tfsi B7 model DON’T stay well clear of this Audi vehicle is my best advise. This will likely be my last ever Audi vehicle maybe. I shall take the little money I have left on the earth to go to another brand like Lexus etc……………...
