  1. Sorry you've had this Henry. Have Dunlop come back to you with regard to their findings? Good idea Keith. Make sure you take pictures of them before they go to Dunlop. In my opinion they should be giving you and Henry case numbers so that you can follow it up with them. Don't send both tyres to them. Only one so that you have some form of evidence. It would be easy for Dunlop to dispose of the evidence!! I think if all of you who are affected do t get anywhere with Dunlop it might be worth contacting trading standards or Ann Robinson's Watchdog. Sorry I can't help more. Cheers Steve
  2. We've not had one of these in a while!
  3. Welcome to the forum Ian, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) If the egr/egr cooler have been replaced and the light is still on then I wonder if it is a sensor which is at fault? What issues are you experiencing when driving? Cheers Steve
  4. Glad we could help Phil :) You are being wise not to rush a big decision like this. As long as you do a motorway run once a week then you'll be fine and not have to worry about the dpf. The dpf clogs with soot because the engine and exhaust doesn't get hot enough to burn it off the filter. For example I do 500 miles per week and have a diesel and have no issues. My driving is a mixture of motorway, country roads and town driving but the large mixture doesn't present an issue. However, if you did 20 miles to work and back then this would not be enough to keep the dpf clear as the engine won't get hot enough. If the dpf had to be replaced you'd be looking around £1000-£1500 approx to replace. These figures are estimates from what I dealt with whilst working in a volkswagen service department. The 2 wheel drive versions are more than suitable as most of the time Quattro is not required in our climate. Unless you live in certain parts of Scotland or Wales. The beauty of the a7 is that despite most of them being base spec in front wheel drive the first owner may have chosen nice options as you've found out. In terms of spending large sums on your a6, I can fully appreciate where you're coming from and to be fair if I wasn't sentimentally attached to mine then I'd probs have got rid of it. Running a high mileage a6 can become expensive as I know from experience. Cheers Steve
  5. Hi Craig, sorry to hear your having issues. Cliff makes a very good suggestion. When I had an issue with my central locking, it transpired that I needed a new drivers door lock. In most cases the drivers door lock controls the rest of the central locking system. It cost me £120 to fix by an auto electrician. Hope I've helped :) Cheers Steve

Hi Colin, sorry to hear you've had these issues. It's really annoying when businesses don't want to resolve issues. I trust you've managed to resolve the issue and improved all the bulbs now. Cheers Steve
  8. Welcome to the forum Marius, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) I too cannot help by offering you a connecting rod but would agree with Gareth on trying local scrap yards. Or your other option would be to contact local Audi specialists (not Audi uk/main dealers) to see if they have any discarded ones :) I use hm spares in Leicester. Might be worth you ringing them to see what they have. 0116 2666660. They are a friendly breakers yard and I've had various parts for various cars over the years. Sounds like you have a great project and wish you all the best with it :) Cheers Steve
  9. Welcome to the forum Matthew, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) Great looking a7 you have there! Great spec a d great wheels :) Cheers Steve
  10. Hi Raz, I'm unsure on the part number but the technical term for that plastic trim is "door blade" or this is what it's called on my a6 and same for the a4 of the same era. If you buy.the part new, it'll come unpainted. Sorry I can't help more. Cheers Steve
  11. Hello Sian, I think its a good idea to have the diagnostic check carried out by Audi to establish what fault codes flag up. I suspect Audi will say that the dpf or egr need replacing but obviously the dpf can be cleaned out. Audi may do some form of good will on the repair depending on the mileage of your a1. When you do go to Audi I would advise you take someone else with you (dad or brother?) So that they can't "mug you off". My other advice would be NOT to drive the car whilst it's in limp mode as this could do more damage to the engine. Please keep us posted on how you get on. Cheers Steve
  12. Welcome to the forum Darren, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :) I would suspect that you'll have some form of sub fitted. Obviously if you have either Bose or B&O sound systems then you'll certainly have one :) If one is fitted it'll be installed in the boot most probably in one of the side trims. Hope I've helped :) Cheers Steve

  15. Have to agree the TT (even in 1.8 form) is night and day better than the fiesta! Getting your dad to test drive is a good idea. One other key thing to consider is what spec you'd like? This may determine the availability of a particular engine. If that makes sense. You'd be more likely to get a nicer spec 2.0 than a 1.8 as a general rule, I'd say. Hope I've helped :) Cheers Steve
  16. Thankfully we've not had snow here, in the Midlands yet. Glad the a3 did well :)
  17. Thanks Trevor and I'm definitely fortunate! If I hadn't have swerved, then the tree would have come through the windscreen or the roof! I'm hoping that most of the scratches will t-cut out to be honest.
  18. Just to add, on.my way to work this morning I had a tree come down onto my car! Thankfully i managed to swerve but it caught the passenger side. But luckily it's only minor scratches! Could have been alot worse! And you'll all be pleased to know that this didn't happen to the a6, but to my daily.
  19. We haven't got a slight wind here in the Midlands. It's gailforce!
