I agree it is a concern but I believe that a dealer has to tell you who the previous owner was. There's been a couple of cases recently whereby dealers have said the car is one previous owner which has been true but that owner was a high company etc and as the dealers had withheld this information the owners got compensation as it was classed as miss selling.

Hi Stuart it sounds like you've been very lucky the other party has paid up without going through the insurers. I'd definitely put it on eBay and see what it makes but obviously be very clear about it's condition and damage etc Cheers Steve

Hi Gee, I'd take it to an auto electrician as I suspect the issue is electrical rather than the barrel itself. Or get a diagnostic check carried out to see what fault codes flag up. This can be do evat your local garage. Cheers Steve

If it we're mine I'd get a second opinion as I have suspicion that it could be something less serious. How do you know the noise is coming from the steering column? When does the noise occur? Cheers Steve

I had an issue on my a6 which made them intermittent and the fault was traced back to the brake vacuum pump. I wonder if you've damaged the system when you've forced the Piston back?

Welcome to the forum Martin (from a fellow c5 owner), you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 great looking a6, but I feel.like I've seen it before on here..... Here are the threads: if it we're mine I'd have the cambelt done for peace of mind but you'll need to budget around £500 as the front of the car has to come off and it's cambelt and water pump that needs changing. It might be worth you ringing around your lovely Audi dealers as sometimes they have offers on to have the cambelt and water pump changed. cheers Steve

I don't think mk1 q5 deflectors will fit. It's a tricky one as your q5 is a 2017 model which could mean they've just looked at the age and not what you've specified if that makes sense? The mk1 ran untill 2017 in some markets. Cheers Steve

As I say they did this issue for various Audi models of the era including the a6. Not good really.

Definitely. Are you sure there isn't a drain hole near the airbox side? Is there a gap the other side too?

In.that case I wonder if it's an electrical.isdue? And as such I wonder if it's worth you getting an auto electrician to have a look? Cheers Steve
