glad you found the culprit, but what a pain.plenty of soaking beforehand to get those nuts and bolts off

its worth a check i had a pulsating winker once and it turned out that another winker bulb was at fault.you never know.hope you get it sorted soon regards

are you sure its the ecu at fault ?

look at the topics on the right of the screen and go onto oil level after a service then scroll down to steve q on the left mouse over his picture and it will show message and click on that

you could ask/pm STEVE Q on here. he might know a place that checks over/repairs ecu's

lol thats my logic too gareth check oil when cool....but funny enough the car wont let me have a reading unless under certain circumstances

as steve has said it could have stretched.chains stretch belts stretch so i changed mine along with the rollers

sorry my mechanic skills are terrible.and i never read your post properly.mines a belt one and was done by a garage 60,000 miles ago but audi recently said its slightly out.and i dont know how long its been like this ,but still ran okish.audi timed it up properly.

i didnt know my timing was slightly out until audi told me on a routine suspension check.

this is without labour my front end had to be brought forward to do it(put into service mode)has the auxillary belt and rollers been done if not have them done too
