  1. Your BiTDi will have the Multitronic Gearbox- Sorry cant help with location of connector and the coolant control valve. Agree with Steve Q regarding the oil change regime of the gearbox but your cars random behaviour smacks of electrical signal vagaries. So many components connected by CanBus - the slightest shift in voltages on signal lines will cause all sorts of gremlins
  2. I have just noticed the same issue over the past couple of days. One question I do have is if it is freezing fluid then why do they pop in readily when prodded? I accept that with wind chill included the temp may drop way below the stated protection figure stated on the SW Bottle but has it really been that cold? I am looking into it at the moment. Last night was mild in the SW so I did not expect mine to be out this morning when I stopped for fuel but it was. I suspect there is a grime build up on the slides the jets actuate along.
  3. Not thick at all. GPS receiver is normally the Shark Fin towards the rear of the roof of the car. Not a lot you can do to visually check condition. To remove it you will need to drop the headlining to get to the fittings. GPS Antennas are normally of "active" type so will have around 3VDC running up the core. May be a PITA but first check for me would be to check for 3VDC output on rear of MMI unit and also for any short circuit on antenna lead. I have no experience with Audi MMI so where this connects and the actual impedance / voltage of the Antenna I cannot confirm. I do not suppose there is a tracker blocker operating in the car?
  4. You may want to check your GPS antenna connections and also Antenna condition- if you do not detect a minimum of 3 Sats then location is impossible to calculate
  5. £225.91 - that was after negotiating a discount with Bristol Audi... fi you are buying new one consideration would be a service pack but you would need to check if Auto Box is included in the package
  6. My A6 has the 7 Speed S-tronic and it is the smoothest quickest changing auto I have ever experienced. BUT it does need servicing with an oil and filter change every 40K Miles I think with complexity comes unreliability if they do not get a fresh dose of oil and filter change periodically. The oil change is a specialist operation with the box having to be in temperature range when done so not a home job so budget this into your running cost expectations. With the manual you have the Dual Mass Flywheel to consider... Flappy Paddle gear changes - gearbox performance modes and as mentioned before, the near unnoticeable gear changes make theS-tronic box very attractive.
  7. As above - you will not see tyre pressures but once manually checked store the values in the system and it will ping when it alters SIM slot if fitted would be between the SD card slots under MMi pop up panel - what level of MMi do you have?
  8. Audi Bristol did my S-Tronic Gearbox service PN on invoice AOB5 325330 A Filter AWHT 005 499 A Seal Ring AN 013 827 5 Washer AG 052 529 A2 Gear Oil (7 Litres)
  9. Unless you have a raft of paperwork from who maintained the car since Audi lost sight of it or the previous owner left a load of receipts in a folder with the car then I would say no. Maybe if you locate where the previous owner lived and then look up Audi independents in the area you may find out something there (if they keep records). With your car being 2010 model and the trail going cold in 2012 I would suspect that the previous owner could not qualify the cost of Audi FSH one the 3 year warranty was up.
  10. If in doubt change it out - if the belt lets go then things are going to get very expensive.
  11. With the Q8 being so new I would imagine the infotainment to be fresh and crispy too. Like with all things software wait a few weeks and the developers will be getting feedback from the field (You are a beta tester) and start on an update that you will be invited to try. Not unusual and quite frequent if you are a user of windows or iOS products. Best thing to do is report it with the maximum of background information you can include. This will expedite a SW patch
  12. Have not owned one but a Mate did and he found the 3.0 a lot more economical and with lower emissions being a newer unit.
  13. Do you have the electronic handbrake? Rear pads need winding back in electronically using OBD interface. Fronts should not be a problem.
  14. First suspect is the bonnet alarm switch- check the contacts using a multi-meter
  15. Update: So I have solved the problem. I was wrong (not for the first time many would say) in thinking it was a Fan. So the noise was audible when I entered the car without ignition on and also when it was on. It is rare with the Solid State media such as SD Card and USB Drive that I had a disk in the MMi optical drive but my Son had inserted a DVD Movie a while back. The noise I was hearing was the DVD spinning up when I was entering the car and hesne why a knock in the right area stopped the resonation. I still wonder why the disk would spin up without the ignition on but I guess unlocking the car and a door opening is enough reason for some. Anyhow - job done for now - time to put the paranoia back in the box until next time...
  16. My 2.0 A6 drinks it like its Happy Hour too - must have put 50 litres in in 25K miles - next service due soon - so will have a word. Not looking forward to being financially raped for the next service though. 38000 miles = Major Service, Gearbox Oil Change, Brake Fluid Change, Aircon service. Had a lovely young lady tell me it would be £1050 - a bargain! TBH I am thinking get the Engine and Gearbox services done by Audi and the rest done by a local "specialist" Was told there is a Pano roof service in the schedule and if post '16 car then the Aircon service is more as it has "special" gas. If I could wait until March next year then I could save a load as you get the same services for less on cars over 3 years - still trying to work that one out ...
  17. Mine has done this in the past - I would put it down to either a software bug or a signal not getting through You will notice that it does not normally retract until you open the door to exit the vehicle - either the impulse created by opening the door does not get to the microprocessor that controls the servos driving the display mechanism or the Software logic had a void in it that can sometimes (only sometimes) does not handle the command to retract the screen leaving it in the deployed position. TBH I would worry more about SUB 3 year servicing costs - Just been quoted £1050 for a 38000 mile service! Car is 3 at end of Jan and it would be near £750. Why are Audi cheaper when they are 3 years plus?
  18. Your A6 C7 should have USB ports in the Centre Console - mine has 2 one for Phone and the other I have a USB drive in with Albums on. More music than HMV and more than I will ever listen to in one journey.
  19. Hi Sandra - there are B7 and B8 forums on here https://www.audiownersclub.com/forums/forum/72-audi-a4-b7-forum/ This will get you to folk that will know more... Shame Audi have been so uncooperative - with registration plate you should be able to identify make model and version. Chassis number in outside bottom right of windscreen will also ID car details

    Wire loom

Hi Fiona. were you told what coolant had leaked? There is a post on here regarding an A7 that developed a gearbox fault that was traced to a Coolant leak into wiring / connectors. Different model I concede but anything is worth a try. I will have a rummage and see if I can drag it out...
  21. S-Line S and RS models might site too close to the ground for the more isolated Ski Resorts. Mine will drag its chin over minor ridges on country lanes at standard S-Line ride height. May be a bit out of budget but All- Road may tick your boxes or a standard Audi frame but with the Air Suspension - they will lift their skirt a fair way to navigate more off road conditions but hunker down on the main roads. A friends A7 has Air and its a mighty fine ride Proof is in the test drives.
  22. I would say that with the indicator and DRL not working (no need for ballast on those) that it would be a more fundamental electrical issue such as a ground wire in and around the area of the headlamp. Have you tried metering out the connector voltages to chassis when DRL and indicator are flashing? Any battery volts to the ballast supply?
