Do t get me started. Been trying to find something similar for my a6 with no success. No garages want to do an engine swap. If you can't find the exact engine code like I couldn't then you might need the matching ECU, cluster and injection pump with the doner. This is what I need In my case.

I agree it's a lot. I'd recommend you get a quote from an independent garage

In the old days if maf was at fault more often than not the engine would run better so I'd cancel.tgst out. Not sure where the can sensor is located. Could it also be a lambda sensor? I'd also advise Changing the spark plugs and ht leads.

Any fault codes? Could it be a cam sensor? Maf sensor?

I'd recommend you look for second hand ones on eBay from uk only.

Is it worth you checking the maf, lambda sensor and coil packs/spark plugs first.

Thought the only Audi that got a fridge option is the a8? Think other models for an air conditioned glovebox as an option

No it's not normal. There should definitely be some good will from Audi. I'd recommend getting another quote.

I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up but I'd guess the maf sensor is playing up.

Glad you got sorted. This the problem now with older Audi's. They're discontinuing the parts. And it's only going to get worse

The battery not being coded won't allow key functions to work. I wonder if it's an immobiliser issue?
